We've got a quick one here!

The ATS Church End Table comes in 14 different 'plate' recolors, four recolors of the original brass and ten from my image collection.

Swatch and download this way! )

Veranka's 3t2 Portable Fire Pit requires Bon Voyage (it's a campfire clone!) and comes in a blend of the original textures and 12 Sunni's Wizard's Tower metals.

This is really short, though. )

Tarox Roman II with edits by Darkmoon comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Natural wood colors using Piggi Wood 03. The desk and open bookshelves have been Texture referenced together (desk is the lead mesh, thank you Darkmoon), and the scrolls are a second subset; you get four different parchment variations with the roller in Safety Fuse and the pointer in Pyrotechnic, both over gently-edited Piggi Wood 01. An invisible recolor is also included, in case you just want the empty desk/open shelves. The shelves have no slots and the desk only has the usual desk slots, so OMSPs will be needed if you want to deck your shelves yourself. The chair has been prodded by Fractured Moonlight to properly enable both subsets, thank you Frac!

More behind the cut! )

So, originally, these were going to be separate uploads, and then I took preview pics of everything all together, and I said, screw it! They both start with Medi, let's go.

There are selections from five Tarox sets behind the cut-- the Medieval Bathroom, Medieval I Kitchen, Medieval II Dining Room, Medieval III Bedroom, and Mediterranean Kitchen. They are old, and sometimes a little funky, and it was in fact a challenge retexturing some of them.

Let's go. )

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Sunni's Wizard's Tower set has had ONLY its wood master meshes recolored in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals over the SDA Castle Kitchen/Piggi Wood 03 blend I've gotten so attached to. ONLY the lead meshes are included; if you want the rest of the set go here.

I admit, I don't use the whole set in my game. I did strongly consider recoloring the pedestal with my granite, marble, and limestone textures... but I ultimately did not do that. I also didn't recolor the metals because I've been stealing the metals FROM this set to use on other things.

Let's duck behind the cut for swatches and rambling, shall we? )

Hriveresse's War Exalted Greek Kitchen (with edits by the inimitable Fractured Moonlight) comes in--

Well, okay. Okay first of all, what happened is, I was going to do 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem recolors of Hriveresse's Greek Kitchen counters and fridge, and then the dishwasher and trash compactor, because boy do I use those a lot.

Sadly, Hriveresse got all her texture-referencing right, in that the base recolors all worked, but not all of the dependent meshes, you know. Were recolorable. Or mapped in a way where recolors functioned normally.

Fractured Moonlight very graciously:

a) fixed all that, including shifting which object was referenced for better functionality
and
b) re-mapped everything to work with the specific way I, me, personally, like to recolor/retexture Stuff.

Which meant that in gratitude, I felt a need to sort of... show off for Frac. Demonstrate what I can do with The Good Mapping. So while this set was originally going to be 20 woods and 13 crockery?

The Greek Kitchen Redux set has:

Counter Finish (legs, backboard, supports, etc) in 20 Pooklet Projext Mayhem plain SDA Kitchen/Piggi 03 woods and 20 SDA/Piggi Carved Pooklet Project Mayhem woods (SimAges stripes on the legs, Kativip LS SD02 Round Table on the borders, Kativip LS City Bench insets, and half a chip-carved plate I found on Google at least ten years ago).

Counter Top (counters and bottom shelf; on the fridge, all shelves) in 20 Project Mayhem plain SDA Kitchen/Piggi 03 woods, 20 Project Mayhem scuffed SDA/Piggi/Kativip (LS City Table) woods, and 23 stone textures (12 marble, 5 limestone, 6 Wood For Sims marble)

Counter Top AND Counter Finish in 12 Sunni Wizard's Tower metals

AND

Stamnos and Pithos (and therefore, Hydria dishwasher and Stamnos trash compactor) in 13 'crockery' recolors that are actually burgled from plaster, wattle, lime, and stucco walls, with Hriveresse's original grooves blended over the top for shaping

I'm showing off for Frac and I do not regret it at all. 153 recolors in total. Hey Ma, look what I can do! )

So, some time-- er, nine years ago, I did a few recolors of Buggy's fantastic Nooks and Niches.

We all still need more of those, right?

How about a hundred more? )

Beck's Playable Recorder Flute comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem natural colors over my now-usual blend of Piggi Wood 03 and the SDA Castle Kitchen wood. Keep in mind you need both BecksATSRecorderFlutePlayable.package and BecksRecorderFluteSounds.package for the instrument to work, regardless of recolors.

So this object is historically accurate; duct flutes (like recorders) don't just date back to the Middle Ages, they date back to the Neolithic. My hole placement may be modern (I mostly followed Beck's own but also put a thumb-hole on the back), but this TYPE of instrument? Very old indeed, and Medieval recorders have been found dating as far back as possibly-1246. Most historical recorders were made of wood, with some made of ivory or bone, so this time I really did pick an appropriate media to recolor this object!

The recorder was popular on through about 1750, and in the 20th century made a comeback for both historically-informed performance art and promoting lung health in elementary students.

Is this a flute or is it a recorder? )

*softly weeps*

Guys I don't want to make any more underwear.

Okay so!

What can I say about linen and underwear, in regards to General Medieviality, that I haven't said several times before? Linen was worn closest to the skin because it launders so well, wicks sweat away, lasts through all the sweating and the grease and the lye and the beating (unlike, say, cotton), and bleaches easily in the sun. Wet linen bleaches white under UV lighting while dry linen starts to yellow, and of course not everybody wore the very best linen, or even the very best linen they personally owned, absolutely all the time.

Basically, in Medieval Europe, everybody wore linen somewhere-- between their skin and their slightly-itchy wool tunic, between their hair that they washed... sometime in the last month, maybe, and their felted-wool hat-- or between their hair and their practical straw hat that might catch. Over a wool gown as an apron, tucked up against the butt as braises, streaming from the upper arms as tippets, pinned to the wimple as a veil-- wrapped around the chin as a wimple!

White linen was everywhere.

This is, effectively, a Linen Dump.

Being a dump, all the Important Information goes outside the cut: Too many cooks who all say no paysites, so, no paysites; meshers are credited inside because otherwise I will lose my mind, but the base fabric is pretty much always Magpie's Linen, and always done in eight color actions from Pooklet's Project Mayhem, CuriousB's Any Color You Like, and Aelia Eco action sets-- in order from whitest to grungest, Pooklet's Time Bomb, CuriousB's Milk, Aelia's Ecru, CuriousB's Oyster, Aelia's Vanilla, Pooklet's Primer, Aelia's Beige, and Pooklet's Grenade. I have also used textures by Alix, Cynnix, and FantasyRogue, and I clearly, clearly went overboard because I am, at this point, sick of white and off-white.

This happens to me when I sew, too, I am SO READY for COLOR. )

So you know how the Exerto Punching Bag is the career reward for the Athletic career, right? And Honeywell made a simple hanging bag that's texture-referenced to the career reward?

I didn't get any pics of the Career Reward version, because... I didn't, but hey! This is a pretty simple download, generally speaking.

It's also part of Buy Mode Blitz. )

Behind the cut lurk NUMBER hairs for your downloading pleasure.

Since there are a zillion downloads inside the cut, the boilerplate goes outside the cut, so...

NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, my policy says I want a cut (like that would ever happen), but Pooklet says no and these are Pooklet's actions. So no paysites.

PRAISE BE UNTO: [MESHERS], [TEXTURES Nouk, Ja, FR, Aquilegia, Pooklet], Lyn for making sure I had a working copy of Photoshop, Pooklet for making sure Project Mayhem worked with my copy of Photoshop (and for their textures), my lovely donors who make sure I can keep my photos online (which lets me post hair dumps at all), and you lot for being patient with my long radio silence.

HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included unless otherwise noted. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Poly counts may vary; MAKE NOTES. Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).

ANNOYING THINGS I DO: Because I credit everybody in them, my folder and file names are stupidly long. Feel free to shorten one, the other, or both as you please-- better you edit them to suit your needs than I just name everything [COLOR NAME] and cheese everybody off, right? Also, each hair color has an elder gray attached instead of only black. Feel free to re-bin everything and cut out the extra grays, or only use one family but swap out textures so your elders have some variety, whatever. Likewise, I bin using Pooklet's original scheme, because it's a nice easy default. I totally do not care if you re-bin things to suit your own tastes (but hey, every hair has a gray attached in case you need it!), and neither does Pooklet, so do whatever makes you happy, binning-wise.

EVEN MORE ANNOYING: Everybody sees a hair dump, so...

Yes, if you want to do the unnaturals, please feel free to do the unnaturals. I have no plans to do so. Just remember to credit properly-- I tend to use Nouk's waves, FR's braid, and a chunk of curve I stole off Ja's Uni ponytail default.

If you spot any broken links or other idiocy, please let me know!

OH ALSO!

I've been doing the new thing where I'm doing that thing where you sorta bin Time Bomb hairs-- they're still in the Custom bin, but at least in this hair dump, if your Time-Bomb-haired Sim has a kid with their hair color, it won't just be the parent's particular hairstyle!

There are NUMBER large pics behind the cut, cats and kittens. Dial-up users beware.

Hair Dump? Now that's a name I've not heard in a long time. )

When I was originally planning Hat's Almighty Comeback, it was going to be Twelve Days of Christmas themed. I was gonna start on December 24th and end on January 6th and there would be themes and this? This was gonna be my Ultimate Post, because in many traditions, Christmas gifts aren't given until January 6th, Epiphany, because that's when Yeshua ben Yusuf got his presents, so that's why you have to wait, too, Little Timmy.

Buuuuuut life happened and I totally missed the sixth. These gifts are officially late.

For humans! For Sims it's fine, whatever their yearly gift-giving holiday is, they have it every twenty days.

So they should have some goddamn toys.

The entire rest of this post's images are all swatches.

So Buy Mode Blitz is... )

I use this one to pieces.

Okay, so, Buy Mode Blitz is all about the meshes I either use all the time or want to use but their lack of texture options thwarts me. HP's scroll phone is... sort of both? Or it was, but now! Now I can put this thing all over the danged place.

Also that shade of oak up there in the title card? That means A Wizard Did It. )

This one is small. Well, the object is big but the number of recolors is small.

Guys I still really love barrels.

Ahem.

Buy Mode Blitz is, of course, where I go rummaging through the various meshes I have and like but never use or use all the time, and give them spankin' new recolors so I like them better than I did.

Karaoke in Kamelot is one such mesh. )

Okay listen though I'm kind of excited about this one.

The Toolregame Social Welfare Table is, effectively, Universal Basic Income for your Sims.

Because there was only ever one recolor I knew of and the books were kind of... modern and legibly English, I had to chuck this one into my Buy Mode Blitz pile.

Toolregame/GRaT/Mel's Welfare System comes in two parts, the table itself (20 Pooklet Project Natural colors over Piggi Wood 03/SDA Castle Kitchen, plus some antique-y looking books-- books the same on all colors) and the welfare claim paperwork (Ten notebook-style recolors, using some pages burgled from SDA and the same book covers as in the Mog Hughson Novel Manuscript, plus Sunni's Wizard's Tower Iron trying hard to be a charcoal stylus). Both packages are required for the system to work.

Never money cheat again! )

Buy Mode Blitz is where I get frustrated that the recolors I really want for something haven't magically fallen into my game.

So a million billion years ago in 2007, the Dark Project on Mod the Sims was, like, the place to get Medieval fantasy content. I'm pretty sure Crocoabura's cash register here was the first one of its kind.

But the textures were very... 2007. And I was no longer satisfied.

Money, money, money by the pound! )

Okay so the thing about my Almighty Comeback, here, is originally I wanted it to be a Twelve Days of Christmas thing, starting on the 24th and going all the way up to January 6th. Then things happened, and yeah now we're doing whatever.

This was going to be the Twelve Drummers Drumming post.

Okay, are conga drums acceptably Medieval?

I don't know but my Sims deserve drums!

I'd quote Little Drummer Boy but I'm two weeks late. )

Everybody and their uncle knows I play a Medieval game, and anybody who knows anything about the Middle Ages in Europe knows that religion was a HUGE part of life. Chris Hatch added religion for Sims to his Angels & Nurses fan-expansion, and graciously extracted Lite and Middle versions for people who want religion, but don't want to install a fan-made expansion pack that would probably break their personal mod suite.

Unfortunately, the Lite version of the mod (which is compatible with most other mods) is just cosmetic; you get the fun of making up deities and setting up tenets, but it has no actual effect on your game. Because three of the five tenets of each faith were romantic and sexual in nature, the Middle version conflicts with InTeen, among other things.

I can't do without InTeen until I find a mod or mod suite that fully replaces the features I want (in order, Young Adult marriage and pregnancy, non-student or mixed student/non-student families in a Uni subhood, miscarriage, alien pregnancy for teens, young adults, and adults of all genders (not part of InTeen but I do want it), and Teen pregnancy and marriage), and of course my love for feature-adding mods stems from adding features, not just adding flavor text. Neither strength of Chris Hatch's extracted religion really worked for me.

And then in came Larky, who I no longer know where to find, and who, in a thread lost to one of the many attacks on Garden of Shadows over the years, took my ideas for a religion mod that banned only non-romantic interactions and made it a reality.

This is that mod.
