Maylin's Church Lectern comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over a blend of Piggi's Wood 03 and my SDA/Piggi Castle Kitchen wood (the straight-up kitchen wood didn't work as well as I wanted on its own, so it got a double-dose of Piggi 03).

Clocking in at a clean-lined 162 polys, this lectern is a useful alternative to some of the high-poly or weird meshes out there. ... ( That said, it does have its problems-- )

Lo these many years ago-- egad thirteen years ago?-- I did an invisible recolor of Bon Voyage's Spiritual Shrine of Odd Blessings. I liked it, I used it, but it was SUPER basic, and honestly it wasn't the best idea-- invisible polygons still render, you just can't see them. Sunni made me the gift of a stripped-down shrine with all of the shrine bits stripped off, and I was always going to recolor it... and now I've done it. A little late but better late than never?

It's cloned from the Spiritual Shrine of Odd Blessings and therefore requires Bon Voyage. The shrine comes in 46 recolors using 23 granite, limestone, and marble recolors from Wood For Sims and various stock image and stone-and-tile selling websites; each type of rock has both a full pedestal-and-offering-bowl (look for "full") and offering-bowl-only (look for "BowlOnly") version. I have also updated the catalog description and added quarter-tile-cheat compatibility.

Normally on these Buy Mode Blitz items, I have a little page of notes-- research and whatnot, comments, credits, things that occurred to me while I was making the thing that I wanted to share when I posted the thing.

I... do not have one of those files for this. Which is a pity, because dang those make useful little cheat sheets. Particularly since this is a big 'please trust me' post, because a) I hid the original Basegame Kinder Kontainer crib years ago and b) when I unhid it, it turned out I had a mod that texture-referenced it to the regular bedding.

Oh well.

Luckily I do have a fair few custom meshes that reference the basegame crib bedding! Which is what this is, the Kinder Kontainer basegame crib-- the only Maxis crib until FreeTime, because I'm not sure anyone at Maxis over the last three installments of The Sims has ever gone baby shopping-- bedding only, retextured very simply with Magpie's linen, in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals, 20 Aelia Autumn actions, and 42 CuriousB Any Color You Like actions.

Why do I need so many recolors of this thing? ( Well! )

Cashcraft's Vanity Fair is a lovely little piece that was remapped for me by the inimitable Darkmoon over on Garden of Shadows so that the legs of the stool are now on the same subset as the vanity table, while the upholstery is all by itself. Originally it was stool-and-upholstery and then table, which is... not. Not something I understand why you'd do.

Vanity tables are something I'm always on the lookout for, because I like the concept so much (always have), but finding one that's... passably historical-looking for my attempt at historicity is, shall we say, not always easy. This one is absolutely no exception-- nowhere near what I'd consider perfect-- but it's better than a lot of the Really Obviously Victorian options out there. ( So let's take a closer look! )

Ah, Skyrim. I'm sure it's a wonderful game. My chiefest exposure to it comes from conversions for Sims 2. This edition of Buy Mode Blitz includes three stoves Sunni extracted from Skyrim, two of them in Sunni's own Wizard's Tower metals-- or at least half of them.

A pretty bare-bones shot, there, but as you can see, the available stoves are Pot, Spit, and Cauldron. Still! Stove options are always nice, and there are few enough out there that I think work really well. ... Even if these are... well, I don't know how cooking works in Skyrim, but these are more 'useful for Sims' than 'flawlessly historically accurate. ( So let's look at them individually. )

Once Upon A Time, long long ago when I could still remember my login information for Garden of Shadows, Darkmoon texture-referenced a lot of really nifty furniture pieces together for me. One-- er, two of those pieces are right here-- a bench and a table from Kativip's Legend Series SD02 pack of extracted meshes from I-don't-know-what-game.

Look at these, man. Classy and rich-looking while still being used-looking. You can't really use them like this, of course, the bench is a loveseat and the table is... uh, a standard two-tile table. But I kept most of the original textures, only overlaying them with some Piggi Wood 03 for grain. And I'm very pleased with how they turned out! ( Come see more! )

In keeping with the apparent theme of 'Wood For Sims Textures,' or possibly 'items already on the lot in the Creature Feature household,' I bring you Free Time's The Goal of Paul Soccer net, using textures burgled from the Wood For Sims Fisherman set-- one of the very first objects I beat up for Buy Mode Blitz!

The goal of Buy Mode Blitz, for me, is to ensure that the things I use a lot have more recolors than I'm ever likely to use, and that the things I want to use but seldom do actually get some recolors that'll make them more or less useful in my game.

The Goal of Paul falls into that second category. ( Read on! )

Beck's functional butter churn here is another one that feels a little redundant in the face of Sun & Moon goodies-- this time, Buttered Up. ... And this time it feels redundant even to me because I do like Buttered Up. But these recolors were finished before that set happened and maybe somebody out there needs these.

So, with Beck's butter churn, you don't need a cow, it just... assumes there's cream, I guess? Making it useful if you don't have the patience for livestock or hunting down ingredients, but want to turn your Sims' effort into food. ( Read on! )

"Hat," you say, "Didn't Sun & Moon release a huge laundry set? Why are you adding this little thing to Buy Mode Blitz and not something cool like that?"

To which I say, one, I recolored this before Loads O' Laundry dropped, two, if I'd recolored Sun & Moon stuff it'd probably be in the 'member recolors' section where it's supposed to be, and three... Loads O'Laundry taught me a very valuable lesson, and that lesson is: I don't have to use everything Sun & Moon releases.

So what is Beck's functional laundry tub, and how does it differ from Sun & Moon's Loads O' Laundry, and why should anyone care, and why are there only three recolor textures on this thing, Hat, seriously, that's not like you. ( Well... )

There are a lot of Body Shop pics in this one-- bear with me, I'm still working with a testerhood that has like nine playables in it, a work-in-progress chemistry mod causing gentle errors, and a graphics card (whose control center I still can't open) that, should the game go 'hang on you moved that camera really fast, I have to catch up,' responds by blurring my clothing textures. For reasons, I guess. Plus I only PUT these tunics on TWO of my dudes, and one of them is this guy:

The Parsimonious Dora Dulce wall mirror by K8 comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals over a slice of the original textures (the bit around the mirror itself) and some elaborate chip-carved wood I had in my texture stash.

Ja's Esther Minifridge comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over the same combination of Piggi 03 and the SDA Castle Kitchen textures I first used on, well, the SDA Castle Kitchen and promptly fell in love with. This is now one of my favorite pieces to use all over the ding-dang place.

The Esther minifridge is cloned from the basegame cheap fridge, only it's even smaller than the Uni minifridge-- it has JUST enough room to hold the tray of ingredients Sims pull out of a fridge, and no more, even though it holds as much as a full-sized refrigerator. It can sit on the floor, a counter, a table, a desk, and even some shelves. ( Wanna see? )

At this point I am just. Skittering around the three households and couple-odd community lots in my tiny, slightly buggy testerhood looking for things I can take title card pics of real quick and still call them an upload or a set. (Single items feel really weird to upload, for some reason.)

Kativip's Legend Series (if that's still what LS meant by that point) SD02 Round table, chair, and barstool were all graciously texture-referenced some years ago by the inimitable Darkmoon, because I wanted 20 recolors of them but I didn't want sixty texture files to get them. The textures are a blend of the originals, extracted from whatever game it was Kativip extracted these from, plus a very subtle layer of Piggi Wood 03, to help give them more of a grain. Michelle's Plain Vanity Mirror is a tiny delight, sitting on the floor, the table, the counter, the shelf, and still being usable! It comes with 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Natural recolors using the SDA/Piggi Wood 03 blend I used on the Sims Design Avenue Castle Kitchen. (The wood is small here, it needs the brightness.) ( Wanna see how small it is? )

So these are! FantasyRogue's chausses, with Yuxi's Beth Dragon Age boots added by Kalynn, and converted to Child by Charity, with the boots snugged up against the leg by Simborg. They are super repositoried because it was highly convenient; the chausses-with-boots have two groups, the chausses and the boots, and hey! the chausses are mapped exactly the same as FR's originals... and thus the same as my big ol' 82-pack.

( These boots were made for a really easy recoloring job. )

Wood For Sims' Barn Living Room (Nostalgia Living Room?) curtains have been helpfully texture-referenced by HugeLunatic and come in 82 Pooklet Project Mayhem natural, CuriousB Any Color You Like, Aelia Autumn over a rather felted-looking wool twill (originally from TS3 but I shrank it down too far for scale... and still liked it), 8 selected Aelia Eco fabric colors over Magpie's linen texture, and 60 wood textures-- 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals over my now-favorite blend of Piggi Wood 03 and SDA's castle kitchen in Plain Wood, Kativip's LS City Bench/Chair carving, and Kativip's LS SD02 bench/chair carving.

Please note that the curtain box recolors are labeled WOOD, so the wool curtain recolors are labeled TWILL, to reduce confusion. ( This way for more! )

The Parsimonious Oggs & Ends Souvenir Shelf by K8 requires Bon Voyage, has five slots, and comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over the Piggi Wood 03/SDA Castle Kitchen blend I've gotten so attached to.

Though there is some shading to add detail, this is not a carved recolor of the shelf; I may revisit it someday but I wanted to start with straight grain wood and the mapping was puzzling enough that by the time I figured out the back of the shelf tiles, but doesn't tile in time, as it were, with the shelves themselves, I just wanted to move on to the easy button-pushing part of the process.

This Gara Sofa & chair were texture-referenced by Darkmoon (very kindly and in violation of Gara's policy, but that's why I upload to my own blog so nobody can yell at anyone but me if they come back from hiatus or inactivity and go WHAT), and use Piggi's Wood 03 blended with the original textures, recolored in (of course) 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals.

I don't remember (and can't find) whoever texture-referenced the Parsimonious Pirate Bay set, but I deeply appreciate them. The original meshes are by K8, and come in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over a combination of Piggi Woods 09 and 03, with cloth in 82 Project Mayhem Naturals, Aelia Autumn, and CuriousB Any Color You Like actions over TS3 twill, PLUS my 8 Linen (selected actions from Project Mayhem, ACYL, and Aelia Autumn) over Magpie's linen textures.

( I did definitely want a more rustic look for this set, just... a little less rustic than the salt-encrusted original. )

Oh man these have been in the works for a WHILE.

Back in Ye Olden Days, Gwenke graciously filled a request of mine on Garden of Shadows-- a slice of a TSM skirt attached to the waistline of a Cynnix top, made top-only in two groups, so's I could paint chausses onto the feet area and have them covered as socks by skirts and shoes (or pants and shoes, whatever floats your boat) but so the skirt and bodice of the gown wouldn't get covered up by bottom textures.

Years and years later, when I finally got around to recoloring them, I realized one of the purposes I had for them wasn't going to work-- pantsless bottoms clipped right through the butt, and even the skirt it was designed to go over (that Oph3lia Liana mashup I've retextured twice now) clipped right through on the fat morph. Simborg graciously fixed that for me, too late to get into the credits tooltips, too.
