Maylin's Church Lectern comes in 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem Naturals over a blend of Piggi's Wood 03 and my SDA/Piggi Castle Kitchen wood (the straight-up kitchen wood didn't work as well as I wanted on its own, so it got a double-dose of Piggi 03).

Clocking in at a clean-lined 162 polys, this lectern is a useful alternative to some of the high-poly or weird meshes out there. ... That said, it does have its problems, being weirdly mapped with all but two little bits overlapping so much that not only could I not easily decorate it? I couldn't easily shade most of it.

I tried. I did. And 162 polys is low enough that an okay job is still pretty good.

I keep pulling lecterns out of my game for having ten times the polycount this one does-- Sims Design Avenue should not be allowed near rounded objects-- so despite the fact that I got so gosh-darned frustrated just trying to lay the woodgrain on here that I didn't bother trying to get any carvings in that neat little recessed area (I'd wanted to do plumb bobs), I'm still very happy with the lectern itself.

Is this a historical piece?

... Eh? Could be?

There's a lot of broad flat slabs of wood involved, this would be an expensive piece, which... ordinarily would see it carved or painted, but there's nothing about it that screams 'terribly out of period' to me except maybe the fully-enclosed back. And frankly that's kind of odd no matter what-- where are you supposed to stash your notes?
