hat_plays_simsBut let's start with something I want to get out of the way that serves as an introduction: There is an extremely well-meaning anon going through my hair dump posts and telling me which years-old links are incorrect. Thank you! But I am going to imgur-and-SFS-ify hair dumps all in a few goes (do I HAVE all those images, yes I do! Are they saved neatly in a way that lets me upload them by dump? No. No they are not, they are stored in the pre-zipping-up folders, so I have to go through them all one by one). I want to fix images and links at the same time, so... yeah. Hairs are LAST on the to-do list.

Ordinarily it's very helpful to be told that links are missing or broken, but. I have a plan and I'll get there when I get there.

In terms of actually adding SFS links and un-Photobucketing my images (though I do urge everybody who can to download Firefox, the only browser that doesn't sell your information, and also grab a Photobucket Embed Fix), the following posts have been updated:

And now, where am I in terms of my desktop and all its lovely lovely files?
Uh, good news and bad news. Cut for length?
Good news: Got the battery in the motherboard replaced without incident!
Bad news: None of the initial auto-repair functions I tried seem to be... repairing my computer, whether using my recovery disks or my install-and-repair disk. This gave me 'okay I must step away for a while' issues similar to the 'oh this will be an easy fix, I can stop panicking' break, as it turned out I could not stop panicking and had more research to do.
Good news: I bought a hard drive enclosure which finally arrived after like TWO WEEKS thanks for that FedEx and also thanks for leaving it at the (empty, rental) house next door. Ahem. Shoved my hard drive in there, plugged it into my laptop, and I was able to back up everything important with no real problems! (I do back up regularly, but apparently not regularly enough for Sims 2 stuff, my frickin' INCOME RECORDS for 2020, and my Pidgin/Discord logs.) So even if I end up having to reformat and reinstall Vista, I haven't lost anything!
Bad news: So my weekend plans involved either a trip to the fabric store to celebrate being Fully Vaccinated, putting my computer back together, or both. But yesterday, while trying to chase my nephew as he fled from the house with poop between his toes, I slammed my left index finger in the front door. So that. May have led to me howling some language inappropriate for my six-year-old nephew, or indeed any neighbors who happened to be outside at the time.
Good news: I'm okay though! I am okay. It's not broken, it's only about as swollen as I expected it to be (there's more purple than I expected, and in weirder patterns), because I was properly taught to type with the pads of my fingers I can type okay when I'm not icing and/or elevating my hand, and the big dark spot under my nail gives me a fantastic excuse to do a nice ace-flag manicure for June.
Bad news: I dunno when the swelling's gonna go down enough for me to feel confident I can handle Tiny Screws without hurting myself, some component of my computer, or a combination of the two.
Frustrating News: I have a 300gb hard drive on THIS computer but only 47gb available space. Where did all my gigs go. My entire user folder clocks in at under 30gb. I'd do a full Sims install on this box and work on preview pics, but I'm not convinced it'd be fast enough to be worth it. Windows 7 what are you doing.
Long story short, I have done myself a Harm. Expect more delays. *makes faces*
I have a couple of PayPal donors who deserve replies and cat pics, and I will get on that shortly, I hope.
