Once again, I have a multiparter for you... although one of them is short and contains almost nothing you can't find in the Kitchen defaults. However, a multiparter means that the boilerplate comes BEFORE the first cut, so here we go.

One, these are as usual default replacements. That means there can be only one. Bear that in mind if you ever decide you want somebody else's... hoe. (Seriously, who else does this stuff but me?)

Two, no bloody paysites. Not a one. While I support your right to upload crap to TSR or accept monetary donations for it just as much as I support my right to obtain it for free (mostly cos I'm actually not the one breaking copyright law, there), I do NOT a) support demanding pay for DEFAULTS, come on now or b) permit use of my defaults as templates for pay content. Look, it takes five minutes to extract these things with SimPE, and three minutes of that is load time. Do it yourself!

Three, if you do NOT intend to accept donations, insist on payment, or throw yourself on the mercy of an entity so blatantly in violation of the law that it uses hacking attacks where a REAL company would send a cease-and-desist letter, then please feel free to use my defaults as templates! If you'd like templates as they come from SimPE, with meshes and all, just drop me a comment and let me know. I got a massive folder full of them.

Four, as usual, everything has been compressorized. Download files are on the large side because photos are included.

Onward!

... But only in a very abridged dictionary.

Ahh, cleaning. Neat Sims love it, sloppy Sims break the fourth wall to go "... Me?" at you, and anybody who can afford it hires Kaylynn Langeraak to do it for them. Me, I wasn't happy that there was so much paint and plastic involved in the whole process.

So here's a familiar-looking mop...

A familiar-looking sponge...

And a familiar-looking garbage bag-- these are also in my kitchen defaults, but for the sake of proper theming, they're also cleaning supplies. You can wet your pants in the bedroom or scrub a bathtub, so they aren't exclusively kitchen items.

The one NEW item in this set is the dustpan, useful for cleaning up after fires. (Originally it was bright blue.) If your trees are prone to getting hit by lightning just as the rain stops or you like to keep a wooden chair next to the fireplace, you might just find this one useful.

Okay, TWO new items-- because an anonymous commenter reminded me of how tired I was of the same old neon-hued trash heap, here's one that's biodegradable.

If you downloaded my cleaning defaults before June 23, 2010, you might be interested in grabbing the garbage heap separately, so you're not missing anything (the set has been updated).

With silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids all in a row...

Ah, spring, with rain falling on the sunshine and sun shining on the rain, and Sims everywhere leaving their warm, cozy houses to go weed the goddamn garden already, it's a MESS.

Fertilizer is an optional step, but not a bad idea. All I've done here is replace the plastic fertilizer bag with the textures from the compost bag, so you get exactly the same look whether you have enough compost in your barrel or not. Requires Seasons.

Use a triangular hoe to plant. The hoe was painted blue, I believe, which just wouldn't do for my purposes. A simple desaturation fixed that right up. Requires Seasons.

A well-watered plant is a happy plant! I was aiming for rusty 'tin' (it's never really tin) watering can here, but there came a point where I broke down bewailing that, without a UV map, I just couldn't do any better. ... So here you go. I do kind of like it. Works with the base game.

A bug-free plant is also a happy plant, but the bright yellow plastic just was NOT cutting it. (And no, the rusty metal and old barrel version in fact does not make any sense at all, before you even ask. Neither does the burlap head on the mop, but I work with the meshes I got.)

First note on the bug barrel, the barrel textures come from Dragon Age, extracted by Poe, here. Second note, not only does this replace the crop sprayer from Seasons, it replaces the exterminator's bug spray from the base game. Be aware!

While you wait for your crops to ripen, there are plenty of other chores around the garden, like trimming hedges! The hedge clippers originally had red rubber handles; the new texture comes from a battered old cutting board. These are base-game, but also work to tend orchard trees in Seasons.

And when the leaves start to fall, who wants to use a cheerful red-painted rake to do the job? Weathered wood and flat metal tines is more the speed of a Medieval neighborhood, after all. Requires Seasons.

Delicious purple pole beans! With the green plastic grocery-store basket replaced with something a little more natural. Requires Seasons.

Strawberries come in baskets, too, so they needed the same update. No other crops got fiddled with because, well, no other crops come in baskets. Requires Seasons.

If you downloaded my garden defaults prior to March 7, 2010, please either redownload and replace everything or just redownload this file... my strawberries and pole beans only showed the woven basket texture for the highest quality, rather than for all qualities. This updated file fixes that.

Wanna help me feed my cats?

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Wha... Okay, I may not have a medieval neighborhood, but just losing all of those bright circus colors is utterly fantastic. I love the new sponge and produce baskets. I also never thought I'd say a dustpan looks gorgeous, but there it is. Thank you so much for all of this work! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to download it all.

THANK YOU!!!!!! You are too fast Hat dear, I can't keep up with all this unbelievably awesome stuff! Ok, so I'm slow by nature and really I am definitely not complaining! I'm just a bit out of breath here, that's all. ;-D My medieval hood is not even close being playable yet but I'm slowly getting there and gathering things for it bit by bit. I love everything you've done!!! Please don't ever stop! ;-D

The gardening defaults are specially lovely. I don't undestand why everything maxis-made is so... strange and colorful xD

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sweet!!! More defaults!

Thanks so much, Hat, for all you do. (My Peasant sims, who will be spending the most time with the gardening defaults, say thank you, too.) :)

Again, thank you for taking on the task of recoloring everything. I'm using most of your default replacements for my story neighborhood that is somewhat post-apocalyptical wonderland-ish. Thanks!

Thank you so much for all of your defaults - I'm grabbing them, but will probably only use a few as I don't play a medieval game. But they are fantastic - I think I'll use all the gardening ones here, as I prefer the look of yours than the bright Maxis objects! :)

Hi.

Thanks for these.

These will come in handy for most of the time periods in this challenge! http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=438591&page=1

But, for the neanderthal era, could you please send me your big folder full of packages as they start to me, if you still have them? I'd like to replace a lot of stuff, and probably some meshes too.

Thanks. :D
