Okay, so I can use things like SimPE and Pescado's clothing tool and Inge's assorted hacks (wicked useful for churches, that formal wear sign) that I can get toddlers into things like formalwear, gym clothes, and swimwear... but except for hacks like that, I'm pretty sure toddlers only end up in anything besides casual, pajamas, and outerwear in the course of a normal game.

Does anyone (especially anyone who plays a Medieval game) regularly put their toddlers in formal, gym, and/or swim?

I'm brewing eighty-two little toddler gowns and I currently have vague plans for little toddler shifts and shirts and nappies, and I'm just wondering whether anyone has ever found a use for toddler gym clothes. ... Or toddler formal wear.

Hmm, I have to say that I haven't found much of a use for toddler formal wear, even if I did end up default-replacing all of the Celebrations stuff (the toddler outfits were everyday). However, if I had the option I probably would find a use for it! It would come in darn handy for weddings or other events where a toddler may be expected to show up and be dressed nicely (say, a coronation, whether the toddler is the one being crowned or not).

... But I'm not quite sure how one would use toddler gym clothing. Shifts, shirts, nappies -- those would work great as undies or PJs (or even everyday wear for nappies -- it would make sense, I think, for peasant toddlers in the height of summer to just run around with butt coverage and nothing else. Less laundry!) or both. But athletic wear? I have to admit that I'm shaking my head.

And now for something completely different: I must say I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who forces Sims into formal wear for church, even if I use a different hack to do so. They call it "Sunday best" for a reason!

Eh, formal wear if the clothing is really nice. For weddings and court presentations and such, as said.

But oh man, toddler clothing in-coming? *Excited*

I'll occasionally put a toddler in "formal" (read: fancier everyday-binned outfits) if they're going to show up during a shoot for a wedding or some other special occasion. I've never bothered with swim, but I could maybe see some uses for it, like if you've got a lot of beach lots and the kids might want to splash around in the shallow water (if Sim toddlers can even do that? I only have one beach lot, and it's just two adults and two dogs living there. But it seems like the kind of thing that could be posed). I can't imagine there's any use for toddler gym clothes in a period game unless one of your Sims is running some sort of proto-kiddie gymnastics classes.

But I mainly use the game for story pictures. If I was just playing, I probably wouldn't bother.

To my knowledge toddlers can't change intol gym clothe because they can't work out or swim suits because they can't swim.

I think formal is ok because of the toddler new year outfit....but I can't recall a toddler at a wedding to see if they change their clothes.

Okay, I don't play a Medieval game, so what I'm going to say is probably null and void, but here it is anyway.

I find use for toddler athletic wear, but it's mostly just for show. For example, ballet leotards - the only real use is for them to toddle around the ballet studio/occasionally sit down and do that toddler wiggle dance of there's music playing. (It's cute though, and plenty of studios IRL have 'pre ballet' classes for smalls.)

Formal wear, pretty much what everyone else said - weddings, festive occasions/holidays, golden anniversaries, Grandma's birthday party ... I find a fair few reasons to put a toddler in something a bit fancier than usual.

If I had Bon Voyage, I imagine I'd put toddlers in swimwear for the beach. When I get some lots with streams/creeks/brooks running through them set up, I'll probably be putting toddlers in swimwear for playing around there in the summer. (Having a toddler pool & puddles to splash in means it won't be entirely aesthetic either!) Underwear would probably do just fine for this though.

Anyway, basically? Yes, I regularly put toddlers in most clothing categories - but it's pretty much so they don't have to crawl/toddle around in their everyday clothes when everyone else is dressed otherwise.
