Twenty-three MORE hairs for your downloading pleasure!
Downloads are inside the cut, so the boilerplate goes outside the cut. The boilerplate is...
NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, but Pooklet says no and these are her actions.
PRAISE BE UNTO: Nouk, for meshes and shiny new wavy textures that I shall be heartily abusing, Melodie9, for age and gender conversions of Maxis meshes, Ja, for textures I periodically pilfer, Rose, Sims 2 Heaven, Sims Connection, EAxis, and Aquilegia for meshes (in this dump. More in others), Lyn for making sure I had a working copy of Photoshop, Pooklet for her color actions and for making sure they work with various versions of Photoshop, Cynnix for doing pregmorphs on assorted meshes and asking that I do long, straight hair that goes behind the shoulders, and to my generous donators, who made it possible for me to release twenty hairs all in one go without getting my Photobucket hammered.
HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Polycounts vary, but I think everything in this batch is pretty reasonable-- most of it is on the old side. (Please alert me if I'm wrong about that.) Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).
ANNOYING THINGS I DO: My filenames are stupidly long, so please feel free to shorten them. Better you edit them to suit your needs than I hand you thirty different files that are all named VOLATILE and piss everyone off, right? Also, each hair has an elder gray attached instead of only being stuck to black or blond (because if you want to only keep four colors or something, this way you can swap out textures and still have all the grays. Or choose which color you want your gray carried on. Whatever). Feel free to re-bin things to suit yourself, or do the neons, or whatever. Go hog wild, seriously. Just keep it off of paysites and give credit where credit is due (which may vary per hair).
EVEN MORE ANNOYING: Everybody sees a hair dump, so...
Wanna help me feed my cats?
In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.
There are twenty-three large pics behind the cut. Dial-up users beware.
If you spot any broken links or other idiocy, please let me know!

A long hair that doesn't fall over the shoulders for Cynnix
Dear Marja, thank you so much for fixing the forehead of this hair. I love you. The mesh included with this hair is intended to overwrite the original mesh for this hair, so if you have any other iterations of Rose 057 (or 054, same mesh), you may want to slip Marja's fixed file in there. Otherwise there will be... sad, strange things happening to your Sims' foreheads. It was hidden by the bangs, but the thing about bangs? They're not period in Western Europe until the late 1860s. (Regency period excepted, but those were expected to be curly wispy bangs.)

Aquilegia edited this mesh so that it has a SANE number of groups and all the highlights line up in a reasonable fashion and I love Aquilegia. So basically, this is a recolor-friendly version of Nouk's Male Long hair. This one, in many ways, is for Morgaine.

Hey, it turns out I did have a photo of a short female hair in monk gear! So I'll once again explain that monks (and nuns? Haven't decided on terminology yet-- Sims of the cloth) are encouraged to keep their hair cut short. No more than a finger's length. Kind of because it's a vanity, and kind of because long hair is a bitch to deal with, and Sims of the Church should be out there doing good works, not trying to get a comb through their hair.

This is a more Eastern recolor of Rose 057, but hey, I've got a Takemizu Village, so it's entirely possible I could need something like this. Or that you could. It comes with Marja's fixed mesh despite having bangs that would cover all of Rose's... weirdness.

I really, really, really should've doubled the texture sizes on this one, but it had so many groups that it just seemed like a bad idea. I know this one has been Pooklet'd before, but I did two different things to it-- I upped the contrast just enough so I felt like I could really see the waves, and I did the grays the way I like 'em (and with a gray for each color, so you can do the grays the way you like 'em, too).

I do a ton of Takemizu hairs, so it was about time I did a Twikkii Island hair. I love this stupid hair, it's so nutty. Crab of Doom provided the black hair wrap and technically the beads-- hers were bone, but I played with the saturation until they came out looking the way they do. I was kinda thrilled.

Date: 2011-02-22 05:42 pm (UTC)... And now I think it's official. I need to get rid of all my hairs that don't have Nouk or Pooklet colors attached. Well, unless they're the Tudor hoods hairs.
Thank you so, so much, Hat!

Date: 2011-02-22 05:49 pm (UTC)Seriously, it helps SO MUCH to just say to yourself 'if it's not Nouked or Pooklet'd (or special), I don't need it." Between Nouk and Pooklet, you have six full families. That's twenty-four different hair colors. If that ain't enough I don't know what could be.
Although if Bipsouille's French hoods are anything like her hennin, they might use the texture from the Low Bun. Which you could totally steal from my Low Bun and Pooklet yourself some hoods.

Also, I'm not sure if you'd be interested, (you might already have a fixed version, idk) but I fixed the neck gaps on the mesh for Rose 41 here: http://disemporium.dreamwidth.org/7204.html. From:hello again ,did i see these hairs done before here?
Date: 2011-02-25 12:59 am (UTC)and i got to thinking , umm, we have different set of hair in different color family for each mesh right? i was reading some the comment up above , whichk seem to make it clear that i can
pick whatever hair i want out of each family set of hairs? for eg. i can take a black family 1, a red family 4, a a blond family 3 , a brown family 2 , which is what we call cherrypicking what we want . is that correct. i m asking , since i realized i dont seem to recall anything on whatg to do with al the diff shades of hair color for one mesh using the POOKLET colors. i kind of wondered and thought we can cherypicks what we want due to the fact each hair color indivdula has it own grey hair too . making it safe to do so.
or , can we just put all the hairs from one hair mesh zip in our downloads? i wondered about that , a nd it seem to be an awful lot of hair whooo.
what you do yoursefl.
i admit i like the richer more solid hair colors family 1 pooklet color yes. and like the very silvery grey. sadly there never usally hot salt pepper hair for men hee hee. and i lke to have vairety of red hair colors to use too.
sorry for the long posting , but im hoping it will clarify make sense to me what i should do , since im seeing so much of this kind of family set of hair more often lately and mayyyyyybe it will be useful to other reading my veyr long post oohhh eeks, please blame it on my coffee drinking sigh.
Re: hello again ,did i see these hairs done before here?
Date: 2011-02-25 12:40 pm (UTC)As for choosing families...
Yes, you can use the hairs exactly as they are, all the files in your downloads folder and they'll work perfectly. You'll have all sixteen colors and all four grays.
There are several ways to cherry-pick your colors if you don't want all of them; the easiest way is to choose whether you want Family One, Family Two, Family Three, or Family Four and only installing those files. (All the files are numbered-- something like [Almighty Hat] Newsea J022F Freesia 01 Dynamite-- Dynamite is the color (black), 01 is the family, so just choose files with the same numbers to get all one family.)
If you want Dynamite (family 1) as your black, Safety Fuse (family 2) for brown, Grenade (family 3) for blond, and Molotov (family 4) for red, you'll need to know how to use the Color Binning Tool for SimPE, the Wardrobe Wrangler, or Cat of Evil Genius's new hair binner to make those hairs all one family. If you break the family links (install Dynamite but not Depth Charge), when you go to change from black to brown, your Sim will go bald-- although you can pick another color. Familying hair is largely a convenience for creating a Sim.
If you want to use just Family 1 but want to change the gray, there are two ways to do that. The easiest is to use SimPE to open a hair with the gray you do like, extract the texture, then open the colors you want to keep and import your extracted gray over Pipe Bomb. (You could even extract all of the grays and make your Family 1 so that each color has its own gray, that way.) The more complicated way is to use the SimPE color binning tool to re-bin your family and load one of the colors with the gray you like as a separate gray-- just leave the grays unchecked for your red, brown, blond, and black, and leave everything else unchecked for your gray.
I hope that helps! If not, I know where there are some great tutorials on binning hair I could link you to.
