So I've been sort of tearing through Body Shop projects since my last post, some old and pre-planned, some 'well, I have all the pieces, I might as well.'
What's my Where-Can-I-Find, first, though:

So I was making some witchy stuff. (Also normal colors, but a lot of the normal-colors on those particular meshes are actually by Skell. ... And I rearranged BINX numbers so the AL-pinned witch stuff always goes good-neutral-wicked-red.) Which is mostly a personal project, but if there's interest I'll share it? I'm kind of having fun with the idea of an Official Mage College or something, because I have just enough coordinate-y clothes to justify it. And anyway I have questions, as google has failed me and I just want to shove things around in Photoshop.
1. Anybody know where to find any wizardly robes for men, ideally using the AL ambodywitch coat as a base? I have three options for TF-EF (Skell's ambodywitch conversions, K8's Fairywitch, and Skell's Celtic Makeover), but only two for TM-EM. I dig the Comfortable and Dashing options for the classic coat, but I'm hoping for Stately, too. (Honestly most of what I like about the Maxis witch aesthetic is color scheme and coat-thingies.)
2. Has Yuxi's Traveller's Robe (the shorter coat with the thigh-high boots) been converted for kids? Or is there anything for this kind of fantastical wizard kid? Again, I've got two for girls, one for boys, and the boys' option is basically gender-neutral.
3. Are there any more toddler-specific witchy meshes out there? Fairywitch and afbodywitch are... probably too much in the lacings-and-boots department for the littlest rugrats, but... toddlers. Toddlers all dressed up like their parents for no good reason other than cute.
4. I know Trapping converted the AL wizard's hat for all ages, but there's a corresponding Sims 2 Store hair called uhhh.... I forget but it's on the redheaded guy on the bottom right here. Has that been done for all ages? The guy hair isn't just a bun, so it's tricky to say 'oh yeah no he just changed his hairstyle.' (I did Digi's all-ages accessory hat in Neder's Red Mage, but it looks best with bigger hairs, you know?)
... So, yeah, effectively I am looking for Apartment Life style witchy accoutrements, mostly for menfolk and kids.
Teasers for upcoming downloading!

I haven't been happy with my old toddler kirtles for a LONG time, and Cynnix's meshes sat there taunting me, and I finally got my shifts and shirts done for the Whites Load post...
And I didn't like laces on this one so I figured out BUTTONS. Which are likely to make appearances on some adult clothes, too, because adult clothes use WAY bigger textures and thus the buttons can be slightly bigger than five pixels across.

I traded some hair textures for straightened TS4 mermaid tails and some comic-book tops and did some top-only scales and while I really should've done underbust editing while I was making the original textures, if I was gonna do it at all? The alpha under the boob shading isn't too bad on boobless Sims.
Still thinking about texture-referencing mermaid stuff. It's just I've done a LOT of texture-referencing this past week.

This is separates. Gwenke frankenmeshed that rucked-up gown for me AGES ago, for CF-YAEF, and I've FINALLY gotten around to doing something with it. Comes with or withoutsocks chausses, for a grand total of 492 texture-referenced files. I am very tired of texture-referencing.
(So naturally I took the chausses textures and made bottom-only gartered chausses and braises. And the smooth-bra tops and made top-only tuttensacks. The, uh, the Mage College Collage was sort of a break without taking a break, since I only had to do any difficult texture work on Bonehilda.)
... So yeah this is the groove that has descended on me, after six and a half months of 'can't do anything on this laptop.' I want CLOTHES.
Also, I am tinkering with the idea of, like, mesh kits? Resource packs? Like:
"Here's a director's cut of useful Medieval meshes in case you want to convert them to other ages, genders, or bodyshapes, or if you just want a mesh starter pack."
"Here are some meshes with Interesting Sleeves but historically-inadequate bodies, and some bodies they'd work well on, and/or some period portraiture or images of reconstructed garments showing how said sleeves COULD be used."
"Here are some meshes that are almost Medieval shoes and some images of the shoes they remind me of, plus some pantsless bottoms/FantasyRogue's chausses they could be stitched onto."
"Here is a Volatile texture, a Time Bomb texture, and some select guides for various parts you might want in different colors, stack the .pngs and make your own recolors of my stuff the easy way!"
"Here is a text file with the texture-referencing info for all 82 colors of that thing I uploaded; if you find/make it for another age, gender, or bodyshape, you can just copypasta!"
"Here are some hairs or outfits that have Pieces that deserve to be accessories, or accessories that are almost Medieval but need a couple of little tweaks, or some meshes (that are probably from TSM) that would be much more useful if the clothes and attached accessories were separated."
"Here is a collection of full-body tunics that would make great separates."
Useful? Weird? Convenient for inspiration? (I may have already put together a mesh kit for Things What Custom Bodyshapes Need.)

Date: 2021-10-17 06:26 pm (UTC)Sadly they don't seem to use the AL meshes as bases. The recolors of Eclipse's robe look cool though. YMMV!
4: Not the exact hair, but fanseelamb did an edit of the mesh and converted it here: https://modthesims.info/d/420394/cute-short-straight-locks-for-boys-of-all-ages.html
I might be able to make some mesh edits of some of the robes and things after I finish some of my current projects...

Date: 2021-10-17 11:38 pm (UTC)The hair is new to me, though! And I am trying to decide how I feel about it because she flipped it. It's still really close, probably useably close, but she didn't just deflate the thing a bit, she flipped it. I have grabbed it anyway and will chuck it in Body Shop and see what I can see. Maybe next to the wizard hat it'll still look okay?
Hm.
Chances are very good anything you make that blends in, I will recolor! It'd be nice to have more options... and as I stare at my giant Red Mage Collage I start thinking if maybe I could put the red witch/fairywitch jacket textures on ambodywitch with a little finagling. Like. The texture files are absoLUTELY not shaped the same, but I got the textures onto Bonehilda, so. Might be worth a try for a splash of that brighter red. ... oooooh and I gotta re-do my toddlers, I just noticed they still have Neder's original textures, with the inexplicable green lining and slightly-greenish gold trim. (... Heck, since I texture-referenced everything but the toddlers, maybe I should brighten up the gold trim MORE, to match the ladies? I only have to replace one texture to change the whole set up.)
... Scuze me rambling. But yeah, no, I really think ambodywitch would look good with a skirt/robe underneath, or with the coattails closed and extended to floor length, but I've never seen anyone try it.
Thanks for the links, and for commenting!

Date: 2021-11-03 03:05 am (UTC)I've got like 3 or 4 maxis hairs I'd like retextured (I'm trying to use them as a base for my new mesh textures). Let me know if this works for you!

Date: 2021-11-10 08:31 am (UTC)Which Maxis hairs do you need retextured? Or do you already have your own meshes that need textures? Because sometimes it's better just to work on the new mesh directly, unless you're specifically trying to be able to texture-reference things to save space and loading time.
Especially with Maxis-style mapping, which makes retexturing a lot harder than how the average end-user does it.
So, yeah, absolutely I will happily barter for all-ages Store Long In Front. (Turns out I even recolored it myself, once.) The accessory witch and wizard hats are great but skew large, to reduce clipping.
For wizard-y robes... Well, I also hit a bit of a wall, but it's a creative wall because I discovered an outfit I want to recolor (82 times each for CU, TM, TF, AM, and AF) got its very nice shoe swap not by having the new shoes added to either of the two groups it already had (despite there being plenty of room on one of the groups), but by having a THIRD group added. My brain stared down the barrel of saving 1230 textures to get this thing done and decided to go reorganize things using BINX numbers, because counting is easy.
(I did try patching the brocade from Skell's Celtic Makeover onto the Count D robe, but pre-existing seams and shading are not making it easy. I may have to try to find my own brocades. Bleh.)
So, uh. I can link you to the various witchy meshes I've been using and make some vague requests/suggestions about sleeves and skirts and boots and necklines, or...
How do you feel about re-mapping the empty space out of someone else's 4t2 accessory conversions? I have plans, but they are hampered by wanting to do 8, 25, or 82 recolors of things that could be 512x256 pixels but instead are mapped to a 512x256 area of 1024x2048 pixels that are otherwise empty. Because I have like five or six variations on that general theme. The empty kbs add up to mbs, after all, and I could be using that space for bigger textures, if they were mapped reasonably.
... Or, OR, re-mapping a three-group outfit to have two groups (or ONE group), so those 1,230 textures stop making me cry. I think I could actually PLAN that one, but I can't do it my own self.
You know. Stuff that'll move my actual to-do list along.

Date: 2021-10-25 08:53 pm (UTC)On the wizard robe front, there's this mesh by aikea guinea found here https://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=6149.msg186016#msg186016 and then this retexture by sherahbim on MTS https://modthesims.info/d/380834/pirate-king-and-queen-clothing.html (which fixes the too modern boots issue somewhat) and I'm pretty sure I pasted the maxis robe textures on to it years ago so it must be mapped the same (no idea what I did with the files though).
