Guys I don't want to make any more underwear.
Okay so!
What can I say about linen and underwear, in regards to General Medieviality, that I haven't said several times before? Linen was worn closest to the skin because it launders so well, wicks sweat away, lasts through all the sweating and the grease and the lye and the beating (unlike, say, cotton), and bleaches easily in the sun. Wet linen bleaches white under UV lighting while dry linen starts to yellow, and of course not everybody wore the very best linen, or even the very best linen they personally owned, absolutely all the time.
Basically, in Medieval Europe, everybody wore linen somewhere-- between their skin and their slightly-itchy wool tunic, between their hair that they washed... sometime in the last month, maybe, and their felted-wool hat-- or between their hair and their practical straw hat that might catch. Over a wool gown as an apron, tucked up against the butt as braises, streaming from the upper arms as tippets, pinned to the wimple as a veil-- wrapped around the chin as a wimple!
White linen was everywhere.
This is, effectively, a Linen Dump.
Being a dump, all the Important Information goes outside the cut: Too many cooks who all say no paysites, so, no paysites; meshers are credited inside because otherwise I will lose my mind, but the base fabric is pretty much always Magpie's Linen, and always done in eight color actions from Pooklet's Project Mayhem, CuriousB's Any Color You Like, and Aelia Eco action sets-- in order from whitest to grungest, Pooklet's Time Bomb, CuriousB's Milk, Aelia's Ecru, CuriousB's Oyster, Aelia's Vanilla, Pooklet's Primer, Aelia's Beige, and Pooklet's Grenade. I have also used textures by Alix, Cynnix, and FantasyRogue, and I clearly, clearly went overboard because I am, at this point, sick of white and off-white.
This happens to me when I sew, too, I do all the doll underwear and shirts and petticoats and stockings in one go, and I get SO SICK of white and SO READY for color.

In my ongoing quest to make my game resemble the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, I have applied a very simple linen texture to Skell's 3t2 Bohemian Tunic, for something like what the guy mowing in June or the guy reaping in July is wearing. I'm not sure why I enabled the kids' version for Maternity; probably inertia.

Okay so the ladies' versions of this one don't work quite as well. They do neatly go over the one bottom-only kirtle skirt I tend to use, and because they're Skell's they're on that noblend magic where instead of the bottoms covering the top, the top covers the bottoms!

There's no separate elder mesh on these, which... I feel like is fine even if you like the Maxis elder shapes? This is a VERY sort of sack-like shirt that I feel looks okay even with close-to-Maxis bodyshapes. Can you tell this isn't Androgyny from the front? Not on a lady, you can't. Also, as is the case with a lot of items in this dump, all of the various ages of this mesh COULD be texture-referenced, but are NOT.

So this is one of the pieces I'm really pleased with, and delighted to lead with-- not only is this a good piece for yoga or to work out in front of the music box or magic harp radio, all I need is a good straw hat and some bottom-only braises and Messiuers Juin et Juillet get to put their stamp on my game!

Fair warning: while the fat morph for men works fine with the bottoms I've tried it with, for women there is some mild clipping. Match her shirt and braises and you should be okay on chausses, but you may have to give skirts a bit of a pass on the curvaceous gals.

Do you see that little splotch of blue on Jetstorm's left foot? So if you should choose to recolor these bottoms, BEWARE! The sexy feet are mapped on BOTH SIDES of the legs. There's nowhere the strap of my bindings could GO. It was incredibly frustrating.

THE MAGIC OF NOBLEND
So! Because my AF bottom-only braises have feet mapped everywhere and nowhere for a bandeau tie to sit without ending up on toes, I had to use Digi's fantastic Castaway Stories separates mesh, here, to do the same thing; on this one the tie is on a separate Noblend group so not only does it not conflict with the toes... uh, you can. You can slide bottoms over the bindings around the ribs but under the bindings on the boobs.
I am not sure WHY you'd want to do that, but it's totally possible.

If anybody wants to make this damned thing into an infants-to-elders accessory, I would really really really like to dump these. Binned my usual way, all colors have a gray attached because it's easier for you to rebin with the gray pinned where you want it, nothing is texture-referenced but you could save yourself 8x the space if you want to reference things, coifs are flagged as hats and available for all categories-- oh and Time Bomb has genetic info now! Along with my Tres Riches shirt, I have always wanted a St Birgitta's Cap for my Sims-- wait that link might have some Photobucket Nonsense for browsers without the option to embed-fix, here's Morgan Donner's blog post about hers. (Her YouTube videos are fantastic, too.) When I saw this old, old, simple, SUPER low-poly mesh, I went, "... No, I could make that work." This is not a Saint Birgitta's cap, it's more of a Fake Birgitta's Cap, as it doesn't have the loopy tie or the lengthwise embroidery insert. I tried to keep the spirit of the thing by pasting on some whitework embroidery along the headband. Like Cynnix's coif, all eight linen shades have been applied to all twenty Pooklet Project Mayhem hair colors; unlike the coif, because this is all on one alpha layer, no texture-referencing is really possible. Every color has a gray, Time Bomb has working genetics, I believe I used Nouk's waves to get some variation up at the hairline-- oh and these play nicely with hairline makeup, too! And really, at four HUNDRED polys, this is PERFECT backgrounder hair. Hair to wear with your sexy-feet nightgowns.

For the men's redux of Cynnix's coif, I tried to brighten up the hair colors so they're less samey on the darker end of the spectrum. I'm worried I went too bright? But hey. At least all the black shades look different! Same as all these other hairs, and if you got REALLY ambitious, you could texture-reference all the like-colored coifs from the male and female versions and save lots of space. Time Bomb is genetic, grays with all colors... so on. Also, pro tip: Cynnix's ORIGINAL coifs on Mod the Sims are NOT flagged as hats. I went through every. Single. Property set. On both the male AND female coifs, after they were done, flagging things as hats. I deserve cookies.

This isn't the most Medieval head-covering I've ever seen? But it's certainly not the least. I used plenty of Memento's original shading, but applied it to Magpie's linen. As is always the case when I make hairs with no hair showing, you have your choice of CUSTOM (shows in the Custom bin in-game and in Body Shop) or MULTIBIN (does not show in Body Shop; shows in ALL bins in-game including custom). But they'll overwrite each other so you have to choose. Flagged as a hat hair!

These are SUPER EXCITING okay! GLB made this mesh for me, uh, years ago? They're tippets, and they're a great way to take a straight-sleeved dress up a notch. They're super simple accessories, at least in the real world-- just a band of linen to go around the bicep, and a tail as long as you please. This makes them... not exactly a cross-class accessory, but one of those in-the-way pieces you put on when you're being schmancy enough not to care that your clothes are in the way. You wear tippets when dancing or riding or going to church or wafting along the parapets, not while washing dishes or tending the garden or chasing a toddler. A really rich person would wear pendant or angel-wing sleeves, but tippets give some of that graceful flutter when all you've got is a square yard of linen. Revival Clothing up there shows them on a modern model, but you can also see them in the Tres Riches Heures calendar-- April has a pair on the one lady wearing a kirtle instead of a houppelande. References aside, GLB's tippets are affected by gravity! They always hang down! No stabbing! (They're also alpha-editable-- I've seen dagged tippets-- but these are the basic ones. Grab them as an accessory enabled for Casual, Formal, and Maternity, or Bon Voyage Jewelry-Binned as a Right Bracelet.

Okay these ones are texture-referenced (adults TO teens) because I messed up the alpha on the adults and got so mad I put the whole project aside for... like two years until I could stand to fix it on the teens and TR the whole shebang. TEENS LEAD.
So this is a mesh Oeselian made me to facilitate mix-and-matching gates of hell surcotes, but first I wanted to use it to make a double apron. Aprons are so ubiquitous throughout most of history, but it's really hard to figure out how to mix-and-match them for Sims-- so this bottom-only double apron seemed like a fantastic alternative-- plus it REALLY covers you up in case of mess.
EDIT: Please note there seems to be something in the construction of this mesh that messes with job hunting; I've had reports of crash-to-desktop happening for both ages and all colors when a Sim tries to apply for a job while wearing double aprons. Heck if I know why. Dress your Sim in something else before job hunting, because this is beyond my know-how to fix.

THE LAST THING THIS IS THE LAST THING IN THE WHITES LOAD! It's the Around The Sims Baby World deco diaper! The same mesh as the default dirty diaper, only clean. You get my working copy of the mesh, because I've done things like... enable quarter tile placement. Which I did after I took the pic for this swatch.

Okay so!
What can I say about linen and underwear, in regards to General Medieviality, that I haven't said several times before? Linen was worn closest to the skin because it launders so well, wicks sweat away, lasts through all the sweating and the grease and the lye and the beating (unlike, say, cotton), and bleaches easily in the sun. Wet linen bleaches white under UV lighting while dry linen starts to yellow, and of course not everybody wore the very best linen, or even the very best linen they personally owned, absolutely all the time.
Basically, in Medieval Europe, everybody wore linen somewhere-- between their skin and their slightly-itchy wool tunic, between their hair that they washed... sometime in the last month, maybe, and their felted-wool hat-- or between their hair and their practical straw hat that might catch. Over a wool gown as an apron, tucked up against the butt as braises, streaming from the upper arms as tippets, pinned to the wimple as a veil-- wrapped around the chin as a wimple!
White linen was everywhere.
This is, effectively, a Linen Dump.
Being a dump, all the Important Information goes outside the cut: Too many cooks who all say no paysites, so, no paysites; meshers are credited inside because otherwise I will lose my mind, but the base fabric is pretty much always Magpie's Linen, and always done in eight color actions from Pooklet's Project Mayhem, CuriousB's Any Color You Like, and Aelia Eco action sets-- in order from whitest to grungest, Pooklet's Time Bomb, CuriousB's Milk, Aelia's Ecru, CuriousB's Oyster, Aelia's Vanilla, Pooklet's Primer, Aelia's Beige, and Pooklet's Grenade. I have also used textures by Alix, Cynnix, and FantasyRogue, and I clearly, clearly went overboard because I am, at this point, sick of white and off-white.
This happens to me when I sew, too, I do all the doll underwear and shirts and petticoats and stockings in one go, and I get SO SICK of white and SO READY for color.

There's no separate elder mesh on these, which... I feel like is fine even if you like the Maxis elder shapes? Also, as is the case with a lot of items in this dump, all of the various ages of this mesh COULD be texture-referenced, but are NOT.

Fair warning: while the fat morph for men works fine with the bottoms I've tried it with, for women there is some mild clipping. Match her shirt and braises and you should be okay on chausses, but you may have to give skirts a bit of a pass on the curvaceous gals.

THE MAGIC OF NOBLEND
So! Because my AF bottom-only braises have feet mapped everywhere and nowhere for a bandeau tie to sit without ending up on toes, I had to use Digi's fantastic Castaway Stories separates mesh, here, to do the same thing; on this one the tie is on a separate Noblend group so not only does it not conflict with the toes... uh, you can. You can slide bottoms over the bindings around the ribs but under the bindings on the boobs.
I am not sure WHY you'd want to do that, but it's totally possible.

Binned my usual way, all colors have a gray attached because it's easier for you to rebin with the gray pinned where you want it, nothing is texture-referenced but you could save yourself 8x the space if you want to reference things, coifs are flagged as hats and available for all categories-- oh and Time Bomb has genetic info now! Along with my Tres Riches shirt, I have always wanted a St Birgitta's Cap for my Sims-- wait that link might have some Photobucket Nonsense for browsers without the option to embed-fix, here's Morgan Donner's blog post about hers. (Her YouTube videos are fantastic, too.) When I saw this old, old, simple, SUPER low-poly mesh, I went, "... No, I could make that work." This is not a Saint Birgitta's cap, it's more of a Fake Birgitta's Cap, as it doesn't have the loopy tie or the lengthwise embroidery insert. I tried to keep the spirit of the thing by pasting on some whitework embroidery along the headband. Like Cynnix's coif, all eight linen shades have been applied to all twenty Pooklet Project Mayhem hair colors; unlike the coif, because this is all on one alpha layer, no texture-referencing is really possible. Every color has a gray, Time Bomb has working genetics, I believe I used Nouk's waves to get some variation up at the hairline-- oh and these play nicely with hairline makeup, too! And really, at four HUNDRED polys, this is PERFECT backgrounder hair. Hair to wear with your sexy-feet nightgowns.

For the men's redux of Cynnix's coif, I tried to brighten up the hair colors so they're less samey on the darker end of the spectrum. I'm worried I went too bright? But hey. At least all the black shades look different! Same as all these other hairs, and if you got REALLY ambitious, you could texture-reference all the like-colored coifs from the male and female versions and save lots of space. Time Bomb is genetic, grays with all colors... so on. Also, pro tip: Cynnix's ORIGINAL coifs on Mod the Sims are NOT flagged as hats. I went through every. Single. Property set. On both the male AND female coifs, after they were done, flagging things as hats. I deserve cookies.

This isn't the most Medieval head-covering I've ever seen? But it's certainly not the least. I used plenty of Memento's original shading, but applied it to Magpie's linen. As is always the case when I make hairs with no hair showing, you have your choice of CUSTOM (shows in the Custom bin in-game and in Body Shop) or MULTIBIN (does not show in Body Shop; shows in ALL bins in-game including custom). But they'll overwrite each other so you have to choose. Flagged as a hat hair!

These are SUPER EXCITING okay! GLB made this mesh for me, uh, years ago? They're tippets, and they're a great way to take a straight-sleeved dress up a notch. They're super simple accessories, at least in the real world-- just a band of linen to go around the bicep, and a tail as long as you please. This makes them... not exactly a cross-class accessory, but one of those in-the-way pieces you put on when you're being schmancy enough not to care that your clothes are in the way. You wear tippets when dancing or riding or going to church or wafting along the parapets, not while washing dishes or tending the garden or chasing a toddler. A really rich person would wear pendant or angel-wing sleeves, but tippets give some of that graceful flutter when all you've got is a square yard of linen. Revival Clothing up there shows them on a modern model, but you can also see them in the Tres Riches Heures calendar-- April has a pair on the one lady wearing a kirtle instead of a houppelande. References aside, GLB's tippets are affected by gravity! They always hang down! No stabbing! (They're also alpha-editable-- I've seen dagged tippets-- but these are the basic ones. Grab them as an accessory enabled for Casual, Formal, and Maternity, or Bon Voyage Jewelry-Binned as a Right Bracelet.

Okay these ones are texture-referenced (adults TO teens) because I messed up the alpha on the adults and got so mad I put the whole project aside for... like two years until I could stand to fix it on the teens and TR the whole shebang. TEENS LEAD.
So this is a mesh Oeselian made me to facilitate mix-and-matching gates of hell surcotes, but first I wanted to use it to make a double apron. Aprons are so ubiquitous throughout most of history, but it's really hard to figure out how to mix-and-match them for Sims-- so this bottom-only double apron seemed like a fantastic alternative-- plus it REALLY covers you up in case of mess.
EDIT: Please note there seems to be something in the construction of this mesh that messes with job hunting; I've had reports of crash-to-desktop happening for both ages and all colors when a Sim tries to apply for a job while wearing double aprons. Heck if I know why. Dress your Sim in something else before job hunting, because this is beyond my know-how to fix.

... So, someday, I'll figure out what's going on with how I categorized these baby clothes. There does not seem to be a pattern. But! Bloom's dress for babs! Made non-default by Theraven, given sexyfeet by Beth, so you have two options here. Theraven does not allow her meshes to be shared, so be sure to register on Moonlight Dragon to download new baby body meshes! (Beth's sexyfeet version has the mesh included.)

We're almost to the end, faithful readers! Theraven sawed Cynnix's coif off of Beth's infant meshes for to make an infant accessory coif, and... honestly for my sanity I wish ALL the ages had accessory coifs at this point? Anyway. You could totally texture-reference this to the coif hairs but I have not done so. Be sure to visit Moonlight Dragon to grab the mesh!

THE LAST THING THIS IS THE LAST THING IN THE WHITES LOAD! It's the Around The Sims Baby World deco diaper! The same mesh as the default dirty diaper, only clean. You get my working copy of the mesh, because I've done things like... enable quarter tile placement. Which I did after I took the pic for this swatch.
