HAIR DUMP XIV: A Hair Dump Story, Part One (Ladies)

Behind the cut lurk twenty hairs for your downloading pleasure.

Since there are a zillion downloads inside the cut, the boilerplate goes outside the cut, so...

NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, my policy says I want a cut (like that would ever happen), but Pooklet says no and these are Pooklet's actions. So no paysites.

HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included unless otherwise noted. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Poly counts may vary; MAKE NOTES. Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).

ANNOYING THINGS I DO: Because I credit everybody in them, my folder and file names are stupidly long. Feel free to shorten one, the other, or both as you please-- better you edit them to suit your needs than I just name everything [COLOR NAME] and cheese everybody off, right? Also, each hair color has an elder gray attached instead of only black. Feel free to re-bin everything and cut out the extra grays, or only use one family but swap out textures so your elders have some variety, whatever. Likewise, I bin using Pooklet's original scheme, because it's a nice easy default. I totally do not care if you re-bin things to suit your own tastes (but hey, every hair has a gray attached in case you need it!), and neither does Pooklet, so do whatever makes you happy, binning-wise.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Yes, if you want to do the unnaturals, please feel free to do the unnaturals. I have no plans to do so. Just remember to credit properly-- I tend to use Nouk's waves, FR's braid, and a chunk of curve I stole off Ja's Uni ponytail default.

I've been doing the new thing where I'm doing that thing where you sorta bin Time Bomb hairs-- they're still in the Custom bin, but at least in this hair dump, if your Time-Bomb-haired Sim has a kid with their hair color, it won't just be the parent's particular hairstyle!

Yeah, this one is just below my 13k polycount ceiling, but I wanted it because while I have a ton of good hairs for my main French/English hood, and a mess of fantastic Castaway Stories hairs for the Tropics, and a lot of good Japanese hairs for the Far East, I have very little specific to my Mountain Vikings. This looks like one of the guesstimates of a traditional Norse hairstyle for a married lady.

So when you search for "Shimada" on Wikipedia, it redirects you to Japanese Hairstyle. Ooof. Anyway, this particular Shimada is from the TS3 Store's Asian Inspiration set, and has a reasonable polycount. This is the simplest of three alpha edits.

This version of the Sims 3 Store's Shimada has some pretty pink flower decorations! Hriveresse originally did this hair only in browns and blacks, and I think she had the flowers on the browns. I do not do these things by halves, so not only do you get all twenty colors, you get them three times over-- no need to dictate whether someone has to wear a warm or cool kimono based on their hairtone!

I know I know my polycount ceiling! There's hardly any hair in this undercut! What am I doing! I'm desperate for historically plausible Viking hair, is what I'm doing. Vikings were very fond of undercuts-- it let them keep their hair long and luxurious, while still keeping it easy to fit under their helmets. If anybody knows where I can find anything similar but at a less... that poly count, let me know! My Simming computer is 11 years old.

This is the kind of hair that gets buried with two swords and a spear and everybody thinks 'oh this must be a warrior's grave!' before noticing the treasure necklace and thinking, 'uhhhhh ceremonial purposes?'

One of those old, old hairs that takes new textures really nicely! Nouk's waves give this a certain softness, but it still looks very simple and like the lady has rather fine hair. The barrette is actually a piece of belt hardware from the historical replica site Danegeld.

I gave up on this hair a little bit, I'm not proud to admit. I should've doubled the texture size on the scalp, but I didn't, and so it's a little blurred, not as crisp as I might like, and I definitely gave up on making the bangs look like loose wispies. (What bangs? Exactly. This is a nice clean hair, though, and a great one to wear with hairline makeup!

Another one for the Viking-Enough pile! This one has a reasonable polycount, but the mapping is... I lost SAN points trying to just add some shiny Pooklet'd textures to the straight parts of the texture. This has a men's counterpart and though they aren't texture-referenced, they could be. A hair that helped sour me on Sims 4!

This is such a pretty, pretty hair that I forgive the polycount. Maybe not what happened in the source material. But the polycount, anyway. This one is an alpha-edit; I thought to myself, I thought, self, Back In The Day, when wispies falling out of your hairstyle was near unavoidable, nobody added fallen wispies for the effect. Now, naturally, this isn't a period hairstyle at all, but... I still decided the edit looked pretty.

Yeah, I liked the mesh, but I wasn't satisifed with my textures. In this version, the hair on the sides of the head roughly meets up with where the braid starts, and the sweepy bits on the sides have slightly curved textures, so they don't look as... weird.

Thank you for such a quick and thorough reply. This will make going through your 600ish hairs a little bit easier on me and my downloads folder. I love all the colours you do, and the new ones where you put abcd on the families was very nice for binning, but the older ones you gotta double check the families and learn the names was admittedly a bit rougher.
