hat_plays_simsOnce upon a time the GoS Monthly Theme was Alternative Asia. I think I may have inadvertantly thrown the vote by saying I had a bunch of East Asian hairs just about ready to upload. My scroll wheel crapped out so I couldn't do my own pictures, but Koraliene on GoS and Andlani here on DW volunteered to help me out. (Andlani sent me sixty-three photos to choose from.) So while GoS is down, I figured I'd better toss these up here-- I've been meaning to forever and ever.
This is a hair dump. It's just a dressy hair dump.
First things first, No Paysites. Yeah, some of these are pay hairs and I don't really care what you do with them, but Pooklet's color actions are applied to them, Pooklet says no paysites, therefore, no paysites.
Second, I bin like this, using Pooklet's original four natural families, elders going gray, a homebrewed gray called Smoke Bomb for Family Two, and a gray attached to every hair, not just the black. A lot of that nonsense annoys a lot of people, but I do it that way because it's the most versatile as far as re-binning goes. (Although if there were ever a set of hairs where you might want four different shades of black...) You get all of Pooklet's naturals, plus Time Bomb for all ages as a custom. I didn't do the neons, but you're welcome to if you want them-- just remember to give credit where credit is due (which varies per hair, but includes me and anyone else whose name is on the folder).
Third and perhaps most important, I have to thank Koraliene and Andlani for their lovely photos, Rose, Cglvl, Qingming, and (someone whose name is probably) Cc of XM Sims, and Moirae of M&T Cakestore for their meshes, FantasyRogue for her braid textures, Ja for this one curved bit I use on damn near everything that needs curved hair, Pooklet for their color actions AND for making sure their color actions work with my old, old version of Photoshop, and as ever, Lyn, for making sure I had a working version of Photoshop in the first place.
Let's see, meshes are included, swatches are included, everything's compressorized... Oh yeah.
Fair warning! Some of these hairs are ludicrously high-poly, which I did not know when I made them (and in fact just double-checked them in SimPE now). Most of them are reasonable given their level of detail.
So let's start with the worst two offenders. It's all downhill from here, folks.

So let's move on to XM Sims. I've always had kind of a weak spot for this hat. No idea why, it just tickles me. I would have retextured the hat itself, if I had any idea what it was supposed to be made out of. Both Andlani and Koraliene sent me awesome pictures of this hat. Hair. This thing right here.

There are four hairs in that picture, but we're only going to focus on the men for a minute. All three are from XM Sims, but they vary wildly in terms of how easy they were to retexture, how good they look, and how reasonable their poly counts are. (In my defense, it turns out Outside the Box is supposed to have a big ol' headdress on it that's alpha-edited out. I may do that version later, as the poly count is more reasonable with all those pearls on there.)

This one is actually surprisingly cute on the Sim. Kind of a Chinese Queen of Hearts/Queen Elizabeth I shape. The alpha variations only involve whether the hair has the gold decorations and/or bangs, and the poly count is on the high side of reasonable.

This hair is meant to go with a whole Imperial outfit and accessory set in Rose's Taobao downloads, so I called it Mandate of Heaven. I should've called it Dramatic Irony, as this was the best shot of it Andlani gave me... which is a great shot, but the name looks silly with it. Koraliene at least made him a ninja. Ninjas are awesome.

There are two alpha edits of this hair, but the second one didn't get a good easy pic. This one was fun. I like the giant hair bow, and I love all the bits and bobs of cloisonne and gold and whatnot. The un-bedecked alpha edit could work with a LOT more outfits and situations, though.

Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.
