My Goodies at Medieval Sims
1. ZoeJ Tunics on Cynnix's MtF conversion of Tiggerypum's alpha tunic to fit Aquilegia's Androgyny body shape for Lady Chandler.
Resources
Still working on puzzling out the resource list, but I realized there ARE a few rather important things I can link to.
You wantThe Compressorizer The Compressorizer and The Wardrobe Wrangler The Wardrobe Wrangler. Why do you want the Compressorizor? Because it saves precious, precious space on your hard drive. Why do you want the Wardrobe Wrangler? Because it's a little more user-friendly than SimPE for some things... even if all I use it for is shoving jewelry in the proper bins.
You also need the Batbox, also known as the FFS Lot Debugger, by Pescado. Because it FIXES things, like stuck stupid expressions, stuck sunburns, stuck Headmaster controllers, stuck Kickybag controllers... Download it and hide it under your foundation with a Clothing Tool (go here and find your latest expansion, look for 'clothingtool') and your controllers for ACR and Visitor Controller and whatever.
If you're going to hack, mod, or fix your game, you need Paladin's Hack Conflict Detection Utility. It is invaluable. Run it every time you download a new mod.
The Clean Installer is essential if you plan to download houses, Sims, anything from the official site, or for those times you run across a set of walls or floors where everything's sorted into sims2pack files. Among other features, it keeps you from getting recolors that are just strings of random numbers and letters.
If you're interested in the Middle Ages as relates to Sims, I made a massive, sort-of organized Medieval reference post that's full of more links to re-enactors than you can shake a ten-foot clown pole at (I trust these links. I wouldn't send you to sites that I don't feel have done their homework without giving plenty of warning). If you'd rather just start downloading, I also have a list of solid Sims 2 Custom Content, although I admit I'm not going to go through every single post on Plumb Bob Keep and tell you which ones are the most accurate. If you're interested in accuracy, read up, THEN download.
If 'Medieval' isn't your thing but you want to make more things happen a) the way you want them to and b) automatically in terms of Sim clothing or genetics, I keep a quicky not-quite-tutorial sharing my favorite SimPE tricks that you might find useful, particularly if you've ever wished someone would just tell you what the danged fields you're supposed to be changing DO. Miros over at The Wooden Simoleon is also sitting on a treasure trove of information, because sometimes the same info laid out in a different way is also helpful.
Quintcia has a beautiful Sims genetics tutorial over on LiveJournal that's worth a thorough read; everything I know how to do to Body Shop content started right there.
For a simple set of resources I STILL don't have memorized, AllGame.com provides a list of Sims 2 hotkeys.
Wishlist (subject to random additions)
I started this blog in 2009 and I really need to update the wishlist section more regularly. Like. Ooof that wishlist was old. Let's update that for the current decade.
I am open for content trades to get items on my wishlist!
If These Exist, I Cannot Find Them
1. Traditional Japanese underwear meshes. Sleepwear/swimwear? Anyway I have all these great hakama and yukata and furisode and so on and so forth for my Far Eastern Sims, but I can't give them braises and tuttensacks as underwear. I know there are Fundoshi on MTS, but they're on the swim mesh and tied the thong way, not the loincloth-in-the-front way, and I haven't found anything like Shitagi or Hadagi (susoyoke or hada-juban), especially not with morphs or toes. Or age conversions. I'm willing to do my own recolors/retextures, though I'll have to do some more research on fabrics, but... Meshes? Pregmorphs and sexyfeet? Tabi socks?
2. SSN Planttunic for any or all of the following bodyshapes: Magpie's Androgyny (TU-EU ideal, TU-YAEU acceptable), Athletic Girl (TU-YAEU), RenGal V2 (CU-YAEU), Jaccirocker's Runner Guy (TU-YAEU, I like his legs better than the LBB), and because Nix has some Plans for them, Heavy Male, and/or Momma Lisa. (I am still hoping a brother for the RenGal shows up.) I want to organize all my Cross-Pollination stuff now that I know how to futz with BINX numbers, but since I'd feel a need to save BINX numbers for the various bodyshapes anyway...
3. I have updated my Nude Scanties Courtesy Copies with as many nude tops, bottoms, and full-bodies as I can find for the meshes I use, but I have some gaps in there--
a) the only Athletic Girl nudes I can find with sexyfeet are either barbie or, uh. Not as Athletic Girl as advertised (a little less muscle, a little more boob, and it's... some how boobier boob at that)
b) I have absolutely no Runner Guy nudes with both sexyfeet and bare, rather than swimwear-smoothed, butts, and no Teen separates at all
c) somehow I have no full-body Lean Bodybuilder nudes at all
d) I have a full-body blockfoot swimwear-smooth RenGal, but not a sexyfeet smooth RenGal, or smooth RenGal separates, which means I can't do any barefoot underwear for RenGal unless it's full-body with chausses. Which means no plantscanties.
4. Towards the goal of Medieval underwear separates for mix-and-match with shirts or nude tops, I've got Skell's bottom-only blockfoot meshes for CU, TF, AF, and EF, but... the men's undies in that set seem to use the in-game defaults, which means for me they show up with toes. Try as I might, I can't seem to find stand-alone blockfoot bottom only swim/undies-- or even just pantsless bottms-- for TM, AM, and EM.
GET A SAW (or, cut up (and sometimes stitch together) some Body Shop stuff)
1. HERE is a file full of clothing and hair meshes that have bits attached that could be accessories, but aren't:
A. Aligeth Cowl: CU-EU, but the collar from the body mesh needs to be attached/remapped with the rest of the cowl. Re-map so the cowl itself isn't mirrored and can be particolored or have non-doubled buttons?
B. Amelie TSM Keyring: TU-EU, but I'm happy with it as a YAEU belt accessory.
C. Bon Voyage and Castaway Stories Fronds headbands: Both genders and as many ages as you want, I just want to be able to put this on different hairs.
D. Chere TSM Bag: Ideally CU-EU, but I'd be happy with it just for the menfolk.
E. Cynnix Coif and Beth infant conversion: BU-EU, I don't even mind that it'll clip with 99% of hairs, I just want to not have 272 recolors of the damn thing clogging up my hair bins (eight linens x 17 hairs x two genders).
F. Cynnix Noble Veil: CF-EF or CU-EU, but just the veil so I can put it over other hairs or other coifs or caps.
G. Cynnix TSM Physician Hat: CU-EU or CM-EM, to fit over Cynnix's coif (but, like, with the bottom as a flat pane so if I put it over something closer to the head, there's no visible gaping void?
H. Daislia Ezio Hood: PU-EU accessory a la Ja's edit of Daislia's Altair Hood (scroll down to In The Hood). Because more hoods = better.
I. Meduza TSM Corset Bag: CU-EU or CM-EM, yes this is on a woman but in art I usually see bags like this on men. I still WANT it for both, but if you have a limit to your patience, I want it for men.
J. Tiggerpum Alpha Tunic Belt Bags: CU-EU, please, and if instead of a group of four alpha-editable bags, each bag could be on its own separate mesh, or the square bags on one mesh and the drawstring pouches on another? For ease of mixing and matching.
K. VampireKiss666 TSM Bard Bag and maybe Dagger: Ideally CU-EU on the bag, TU-EU on the dagger, and honestly I would not turn down that cape as an accessory, either.
2. Gryning added the bangs from the BG Barrette hair to the BG Low Bun hair, which is very exciting and basically looks like the hair under the Apartment Life witch hat! And I may have already retextured it! But it isn't for all ages (so it falls slightly short of Trapping's all-ages witch hat) and it's mapped with the bangs on a separate texture (so I can't texture-reference to or from the witch hat). I would love to have an all-ages remapped version, but I'd settle for either all-ages or remapping, honestly.
3. HERE is a file full of existing bottom-only meshes and historical reproduction inspiration pics of shoes. There is also a danged essay in there. Please, I need more separate bottoms with different kinds of shoes, pantsless or with FantasyRogue's braises, primarily for Maxis CM-EM but I sure wouldn't say no to ladies or other bodyshapes. Do we not deserve historically-adequate riding boots? EDIT: Simborg has age-converted bottom-only plantshoes.
4. HERE is a file full of full-body tunic meshes that I would love to have separated into top-only, because I don't. I don't like making color combination decisions. I'm sure there are other meshes, like Mio's Romeo and I think I used to have one with full sleeves, but it was stuck to kilt-based wafflestompers, but-- top-only tunics, please! Especially if you look at things like Revival Clothing, and how a lot of the tunics tend to be less snugly-fitted than what we normally see for Sims. EDIT: Iamliz13's Rus tunic separated by Simborg!
5.Cynnix's poulaines shoe-swap of Oph3lia's cross-less edit of Aligeth's Friar Tuck robe (plus Cynnix and Meduza's age and gender conversions of same), but re-mapped to use fewer groups. I would really really like to recolor that one 82 times, but it's got three groups and they're all different and it doesn't seem like it would take THAT much effort to get it down to two groups. (One group might be pushing it. It could be DONE, I've goofed around in Photoshop, but the cowl would have to be split up and scattered all over the map.) I really want this one, but oh I get tired just thinking of all those damn groups. If I have to make color-coordinate choices for a robe AND a cowl AND chausses AND shoes AND a belt and maybe even undersleeves, I don't want to have to deal with that many textures. Reduced to a workable two by the inimitable Simborg!
6.Fat morph fixes for Silvain's top-only Tig tunic and Gwenke's rucked overdress. Silvain's top doesn't play well with ANY bottoms I have with fat morphs (kids are okay), while Gwenke's rucked gown was built to lay over that Oph3lia mashup dress with the FR Poulaines and it. It has no room in the trunk for any other fatmorph's junk. Simborg strikes again, thank you Simborg!
7.A simple shoe swap! Magpie made Maxi skirts for menfolk, which are basically my go-to skirt mesh... but Magpie's conversion uses Amaryll's flats and I want FR's Poulaines please. Thank you Simborg!
8.Midgethetree's Maxis Lost And Found Mittens come for all ages, which is great! But every single toddler outfit mesh I have pokes through the dang things, including Maxis meshes. I don't know how to get the mesh out to link it, but... yeah, the mittens need to be bigger. Thank you Simborg! Clearly this is why Maxis lost these.
9. The Sim Ages Medieval Fantasy gown is great, and I want to turn it into a Burgundian gown. (Also Prior Attire has some good examples but their gallery doesn't let me link to specifics.) The skirt and sleeves on this mesh are so nice for a Burgundian gown, but the bodice is killing me. Problems include:
a) I can't put the belt high enough or it starts to wobble (underbust area not mapped in a belt-friendly way)
b) The hard line in the bust area that defines the neckline so nicely? It's too low and too wide, so I can't get the correct angle on the contrast collar. (Otherwise I would not mind boobtastic gowns.)
c) When the collar is wide enough, the UV mapping shreds it-- but if the hard neckline... line... were flattened or raised and narrowed, I could move the collar in somewhat.
d) the AF bump map is broken; I can neither use it nor delete it.
It'd also be nice to have GLB's Epic Sleeves attached so I can turn this into a houppelande as well, but even just getting this dress workable would add some fun variety to things.
Anyway it's sort of almost there, what I need to be able to do is, basically, put the shoulder edge of the collar where the inside neckline edge is, lift the neckline so it covers the cleavage, and lift the belt so it's properly under the boobs. I don't know if editing the mesh (other than to fix the bump map) would be better than just... making a whole new mesh. Help? Help.
10. COMING SOON: Something something sleeve swaps? I keep hoarding meshes with neat sleeves and then not doing the research to figure out what I want them pasted onto.
11. COMING SOON: Something something fantastic hats by Wawa that don't fit over appropriate hairstyles, I had these all sorted out and detailed at one point but I can't find my notes. Uh, random links for now: Toque and Barbette, so many hats um. The toque hangs way off the back of the skull (and the whole thing is just a little oversized, but I recognize that's because the barbette has to allow for multiple face sizes), the balzo doesn't fit close to the skull like it should (it was worn with slicked-back hair), the truncated and steeple hennins don't fit the head and are very strange shapes, and the double steeple hennin doesn't fit the head and has a big seam right up front. The veils are all so nice, it's mostly just how they attach to the heads and how you need out-of-period long loose full hair to cover how they sit... weird.
12. Here is a file full of what reasonably low-poly ring meshes I can find, and... okay basically I just want more rings on more fingers for more ages for more genders. Especially the Sim Chic ring, which says it's TF-EF but has no separate teen mesh. Rings were a big jewelry item in the Middle Ages (photo references included), and I want to make more of them. Right-hand rings are weirdly neglected?
Objects And Object Fixes Where All The Parts Exist
1. I do still want a custom sewing machine that looks like a spinning wheel. I have still only ever seen one custom sewing machine-- by ATS, right here-- and again I like CTNutmegger's due to the nice round wheel. Dragonarts also made one but the wheel has corners; Gara has a walking wheel-- more period accurate, if the wrong size-- that also has some very corner-y corners. I have seen Sunni's default replacement, but the pedals don't line up, and that bothers me. (I have seen Sophie-David's invisible default, but invisible polys still load.)
2. I still want a loom as a custom sewing machine! This TS3 loom by Hekate999 is great, what with being a proper warp-weighted loom. Cokenasmile's loom is later in period, but doesn't have to be converted from TS3 first. Neither creator has been active on MTS for a decade or so. Gara also has a loom, conveniently in the same download as the sewing machine.
3. Marina Sims standard, wall flagpole, and wall banner have some polys that are flipped around weird-- what's on the front shows up on the back and what's on the back shows up on the front. If anyone could fix that-- and possibly texture-reference the meshes-- I'd be very grateful. I want to use them in my Massive Heraldry Project.
4. Around The Sims has a puppet theatre that is very charming, but it tells me it has two recolorable subsets in SimPE, while in-game, it only has one... and it has no slots for puppets. I would like the red outside to be one subset and the stage, curtains, backdrop, and rear scrim/back wall to be another, and... two-to-four slots added to the stage, for puppets and/or props?
5. Crisps and Kerosene's TSM Pirate & Noble and TS1 Unleashed parrot perches as Amaryll or Fractured Moonlight dragon cages. Because look at those, especially the P&N ones. Those need little dragons on them.
As Long As I'm Dreaming, I'd Like A Pony
1. Modded Wedding Arch! Here is a pack of four-and-a-half wedding arches whose features I would like combined into SUPER arches:
A. PC Sims Priest Marry (plus my clumsy edit, thus the half) adds an officiant
B. Chris Hatch Wedding Mat adds bridesmaids
C. Rebecah's Default Arch adds optional vow renewals
D. Inge & Marhis Special Arch allows for low-relationship marriages
The PERFECT arch would combine all four of those, use the Regular Affectionate Animations for couples in love while couples who aren't in love get Marhis's Not So Affectionate animations, replace Chris Hatch's bridesmaids (any sister or daughter of either half of the marrying couple, walking toddler and older) with witnesses (any Sim of any gender with a high non-romantic relationship to either half of the marrying couple, prioritizing adults), allow equal access to officiants (PC Sims) and bridesmaids/witnesses (Chris Hatch) for same-sex couples, put Sims in their assigned formal wear instead of the Basegame wedding clothes (PC Sims), and have no name change built into the BHAVs (PC Sims). (And if the "arch" could actually be a three-tile rug or floor-writing mesh whose base recolor has some indication of who stands where? VERY VERY GOOD. I keep turning things the wrong way.)
If you haven't clicked any cuts yet and you're looking for that massive post full of SimPE tricks (old stuff I have not kept updated has been removed as of February 2022):
Simple SimPE Tricks: How to make your Body Shop content do what you want, with a few Buy/Build Mode tricks, too. Recent additions: how to Time Bin, how I made my custom modular stairs show up properly without Scriptorium, and how to actually up the Environment score on deco objects.
And here's something I feel kind of silly about posting at all:
Behold the Tip Jar!
In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. I don't do pay content and I can't seem to get requests done in a timely fashion, so donors get a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery (you help feed my cats, you get to see lots and lots of pictures of my cats) and my to-do list Google doc, in case there's anything on there that makes a donor go 'oooh, when are you working on that one?'
1. Outside of a Dog, a Book is Man's Best Friend (Period book defaults)
2. Spirit Halloween... Can I help you find anything? (Halloween store employee T-shirts for AF, AM, TF, and TM.)
3. It's Just a Little Growth (I Am A Tree mutated into a sheer Plantsim default replacement)
4. Automatons, Golems, and Puppets (Polished oak servo default replacements)
5. Invisible Lunch (Invisible and transparent recolors of Exnem's customizable buffet table)
6. A Knight is Sworn to Valor (Sims 2 Store-match versions of ZoeJ's chainmaille outfits)
7. Medieval Baby and Kitchen Defaults (Exactly what it says on the tin.)
8. Stolen by Fairies (Eight-PT mod with optional custom memories)
9. Good Witch, Bad Witch, Princess, Queen (27 Recolors of Sherahbim's Elven Gown)

13. Ars Longa, Vita Brevis (Medieval easel painting defaults.)
14. Cloth Diapers (Assorted cloth diapers for toddlers, available in regular and townie-friendly. Also includes one unbleached linen default replacement.)
15. Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden (Multiple Ideal Plantsim Mod)
16. Service is its Own Reward (Androgynous Oak Servo Default Replacement, Catalog Text Mod (with optional buyable Servo option), and Servo Matte Package)
17. Garden of Shadows 2010 Advent Gift Sims 2 Store Castle Set furniture Pooklet'd, with optional GoS-exclusive heraldry, University Medieval furniture Pooklet'd, and Project Hide Everything, a set of 1,600+ individual catalog hiders so that you can, hey. Hide everything.
