Ah, the joys of having stuff sitting on my hard drive and not quite having the gumption to upload any BIG sets just yet. So, hey, here's a small one!

"I don't want to achieve immortality through my work; I want to achieve immortality through not dying."
I've been collecting art from the 1400s and earlier for this project for a while now. Oh, sure, I could just fling them into the custom paintings folder, but I was so tired of the little hot pink woman in the bright green minidress and the incredibly annoying chunk of ugh titled Clown Romance. Those are not Medieval works and just plain weren't appropriate to my game.
So I switched 'em.

I nabbed my templates for these from SaraMK over on MTS, and the pic of the original paintings in the zip file is her work, too, not mine.
These are ridiculously high-definition, most in the 1024x1024 size. I spent way too long looking for good big paintings with the right proportions to let them get all fuzzy and pixellated, even if I did have to skew them to get them onto the easels properly.
This is indeed a default replacement, so as usual, there can be only one-- if you have any other painting defaults, you'll have to remove them to add these.
Each default is separate, so if you decide you'd rather keep the abstract Apple and Orange but get rid of Wannabe Picasso, just leave out the appropriately labeled file.
I own pretty much nothing here, and I'd be surprised if any of these paintings are still under copyright... but as usual I'm going to say do what you want as long as you don't use these for paysites, donation files, or to put anywhere near TSR. Why? Because they're defaults, and I get all weird about asking for money for default replacements. Also I get weird about asking for money for EAxis extractions or age conversions. At least break copyright law with some original work... or build your own dang templates.
Which painting replaces what?

That's how it lines up. (Please note those numbers are not the numbers of the files. No, I don't get it either, but I didn't change it. Just match the names, instead-- John the Baptist is 'beheaded,' for the record.)
Enough babble.

Wanna help me feed my cats?
In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Date: 2010-02-21 06:26 am (UTC)One weird thing is, although the paintings will be rectangular, the textures need to be square-- you'll have to first make sure they're the right proportions for the easel (15x24, so if you're working with an image you want to be 1024 pixels tall, it'll need to be 640 pixels wide) and then skew it so that it's a size SimPE can read properly (1024x1024, 2048x2048... But if you're not as insane as I am, 512x512 would probably be okay).
It'll look like something shot for a TV screen stretched to letterbox size, but it'll work right in-game.

Enjoy your implausible masterpieces! They're not awkward llamas!
