hat_plays_simsSince I currently tend toward Medieval Sims, I've discovered I really like taking some of the high-tech crap Sims 2 provides us with-- like Servos-- and making them work in more period neighborhoods. Alien abduction is no exception, but it's also an easy one to 'fix'-- Sims who are abducted by aliens in a Medieval game can simply have been... well. Stolen by the Fairies. (Fairies can have flying saucers, apparently. Why not?)
I WAS using the Ivory Tattoo skin by Chakaru as my alien default with Rensim's Retooled Aqua eyes, and Pirate McSkittles as my PT. However, while Pirate puts out cute kids, I was not pleased with the fact that they were all related. There's no way to create a thriving hybrid community in your neighborhood. That, and remembering an interesting detail from Lords and Ladies, a Discworld novel...

With this mod in place, your Sims will be randomly ravished and magically impregnated by one of eight elves, fae, fairies, shining ones, sidhe... For the sake of a pretty and yet streamlined thread, they are pictured here WITH custom content. Below their portraits are LINKED images as you'll get them (in base-game clothing and hair) and views of their offspring at various ages... if they managed to have any. I playtested EXTENSIVELY, but after twenty-two babies, my game crashed and I couldn't get pics of all of them.

The Optional Memory Mod
This mod is a simple text fix. It replaces the text and icons of any memories involving alien abduction-- positive, negative, family member abducted, alien abduction scholarship-- with something a little more period and a little more magical. The cartoony flying saucer is replaced with a greenish pointed ear. This one is very simple to use; just drop it in your Downloads folder, and if you hate it, pull it out. I forgot to nab pics of this one. Be surprised!
HOW TO USE A MULTIPLE POLLINATION TECHNICIAN MOD
Saying 'drop it in your downloads' folder is too simple, really, even if that's what it amounts to.
The PT mod comes in three separate folders for eyes, skins, and the mod itself. For the mod to work, you need all of those installed. I did not make a No-CC version of this mod, but if you want to, you're welcome to.
If you decide you no longer want this mod installed, but you've already got half-fae kids running around your neighborhood? ONLY remove the file called "MOD Stolen by Fairies Multi PT by Almighty Hat" (or whatever you rename it if that's too long for you). Leave the individual Sim files, the skins, and the eyes, in your game. Otherwise, you'll end up with broken genetics on your kids. Broken genetics contribute to eventual BFBVFS syndrome.
THESE SIMS WILL SHOW UP IN YOUR SIM BIN. Do not delete them from the Sim bin. I do not know what that will do, but I doubt it would be very good at all.
ISSUES
They call it 'sadorandom' for a reason. I tested this mod EXTENSIVELY, got twenty-two kids, crashed my game, and Ainsel still hadn't impregnated anyone yet... and Mallebron had done it seven times. It's random-- it is NOT broken. If it seems like, for example, Briary is dominating your gene pool? She probably is. Chaos sucks.
Corrigan produces silly-looking kids, but she's meant to look more like a pixie.
Lankin produced one homely daughter, but I have great hope for his sons. Also I never saw her as an adult-- she might look okay.
NOTES
On Compatibility:
Hair and skin on the PTs you actually get is (to the best of my knowledge and PLEASE tell me if there's a problem) base game only, so if you can use a multi-PT mod, you can use THIS multi-PT mod.
Skins are compatible with Bloom's Sexy Feet and Warlokk's XHiRes default shapes as well as regular Maxis nudes. Elders share the same body textures as adults and teens. Yes, these have nipples; no, they don't have any other good parts.
This mod works with Tom420's Male and Female Alien Impregnation hack over on MTS; I have heard other hacks that allow for both genders getting probed... er, carried off and ravished... can conflict with multi-PT mods, so I recommend that one.
You can have as many PTs from multi-PT mods in your game as you want, but you can only have ONE mod in at a time. Don't screw up.

I also owe a couple of thank-yous to Terry Pratchett. No, really-- his fairies in the Discworld novel 'Lords and Ladies' have copper-based blood (they couldn't have iron-based blood the way humans do, or they wouldn't have that classic fae sensitivity to iron). Oxygenated iron-based blood is red, giving pale humans a rosy look, so oxygenated copper-based blood would turn... turquoise, giving pale fae a greenish look. The whole project kind of kicked off from that surprisingly science-based observation.
The works of William Shakespeare provided most of my names; a google search for 'fairy names' handled most of the rest. 'Briary' comes from a short play I saw many, many years ago at RenFaire; Briary was a changeling. The spelling of Auberon and last name Vertdubois came from a short story I read ages ago; I can't recall what it was but I think it was in one of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword and Sorceress books. If you read a story where Auberon St. Vertdubois marries Jonet Ellen Bellamy, that's where the name comes from.
POLICY
Uh... I dunno what you could do with this, really, but my usual policy is 'do whatever the heck you want.' I'd appreciate a link back; this was not a small project. If you use the skins for something, link to Mouseyblue's skins, too, and don't muck around with the eyes-- Rensim allows them to be uploaded with Sims, which... technically is all I've done with them. They're included for convenience's sake only.
There's a read-me included with my policy on TSR and paysites, but in general? Don't. Tis rude.

To repair a non-critical problem with the mod (a mistake in the original eight-PT mod which basically gives you double chances of getting one PT (probably Mallebron) and zero of another (in this case, Ainsel). It won't hurt your game, but it IS pretty annoying. Let this file overwrite the original mod file; they have the same name. As of April 30th 2010, all other files have been updated.

Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.
