HAIR DUMP VII: Revenge of Hair Dump, part Three of Three

Twenty-six hairs for your downloading pleasure! I promised you a three-part dump and here it is (naming the four different edits of HIM666 Lord of the Manor and M&T Sims Cakestore Belle Unique slowed me down).

Downloads are inside the cut, so the boilerplate goes outside the cut. The boilerplate is...

NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, but Pooklet says no and these are her actions.

PRAISE BE UNTO: Nouk, for shiny new wavy textures that I shall be heartily abusing, Melodie9, for age and gender conversions of Maxis meshes, Ja, for textures I periodically pilfer, XM Sims, Gnat Go Splat, DJ Mur3, Fanseelamb, Talenzz, ZZ99, Tenshii Akari, M&T Sims Cakestore, HIM666, and Trapping for meshes, Lyn for making sure I had a working copy of Photoshop, Pooklet for her color actions and for making sure they work with various versions of Photoshop, Cynnix for doing pregmorphs on assorted meshes and asking that I do long, straight hair that goes behind the shoulders (thus kicking my rear in gear to do hair dumps), Lothere and Albion for existing and providing inspiration (it is SO awesome to read someone else's story and go "Hey that's my stuff!"), and to my generous donators, who made it possible for me to release twenty hairs all in one go without getting my Photobucket hammered.

HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Polycounts vary, but I think everything in this batch is pretty reasonable-- most of it is on the old side. (Please alert me if I'm wrong about that.) Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).

ANNOYING THINGS I DO: My filenames are stupidly long, so please feel free to shorten them. Better you edit them to suit your needs than I hand you thirty different files that are all named VOLATILE and piss everyone off, right? Also, each hair has an elder gray attached instead of only being stuck to black or blond (because if you want to only keep four colors or something, this way you can swap out textures and still have all the grays. Or choose which color you want your gray carried on. Whatever). Feel free to re-bin things to suit yourself, or do the neons, or whatever. Go hog wild, seriously. Just keep it off of paysites and give credit where credit is due (which may vary per hair).

Okay, there are four of these today. 1-1 and 1-2 share a mesh, as do 2-1 and 2-2. However, for ease of Photobucket, I'm going alphabetically by title so they're all out of order. EDIT: CBS seemed to think this hair was, in fact, an episode of something they own. This is not so. The new Accidentally On Purpose file is named It's JUST A HAIR, so don't be confused if you're a new downloader. EDIT AGAIN: Let this be a lesson to you; always file a counter-claim if your content is removed for ToS violations but doesn't actually violate the ToS. Accidentally On Purpose is back online, at its old URL and with its original title.

Okay, I will admit it, I nicked this idea from Amaryll. I think my hair looks almost exactly the same as hers, except hers is Nouked and mine is, er, Nouklet'd, and I doubled the texture size because I wasn't satisfied with the crunching. It's a fairly low-poly and stupidly pretty hair, so I don't feel bad about the huge textures.

I am a giant nerdbucket. There is almost exactly zero use for the Hyrulian Princess's hair in a Medieval game (fantasy, yes, Medieval... um, no), but I love it and it's surprisingly low-poly. Also, meshes well with Fantasy Rogue's Eelf replacement template! (Er, although the face here is a modified Katuchan Face 01, just with FR's elf ears on. And I gave her the right color hair but forgot to give her blue eyes. Bad fan!)

so i went and tryed the lord of the manor him66 to see how they are all diff
version 00 is the really long long front fring hair
version 01 is the one with the extra fringe front and top
version 02 is the one with less fringe all over the hair .

and the winner for me is the less fringes extension eh.

i wonder which one is more popular though ?

It takes at least a month to see how popular a hair is going to be -- so far my most popular hair is the Marko Released (Sweet Princess) that went up in one of my earliest hair dumps. For a TSR pay hair (with mesh from the Booty, yo), it's sure popular!

well i see that the perpetual long hair is not for every age group ,but potion master has hair for every group , it rather cute on the little boys and teens and even the baby ah. so im gonna keep the potion master in download .
even after all these years of sim playing i still get confused with the diff things eh.i need toplay more i suspect .

but i got sidetracked with binning some hairs of raon and some buffy jodylen hairs , i guess they were created long ago in the early day.

im learning that i really do like certain shade of hair more than other now it see, i do like all shade of red hair , it so vibrant !

blond hair i m finding i like the more yellow tone blond hair and not the more ashy or greyish blond hair , that sure seem to me be perfect for grey hair bins or for older sim in their late 40 and 50 age mmm. yeah. i like my brown dark and redbrown but not really grey wash out. sometime i see a shade and think oh that closer to blond really. the black i just like to see it rich dark not so see thru i think . i do like seeing the texture though.

im really enjoying seeing them him66 male hair done over again , it great for rocker guys or historical guy or medival guy i think.
mm that tenshii in blond on my male sim sure looking like justin timberlake curly hair gee .

the talenzz3xuxu male hair is gonna take some getting used to , not sure if i like that hairstyle , what guy gonna wear that not sure, maybe some hip guy in the fashion business or advertising maybe mmmm.

I do say under each hair what ages they're for-- Perpetual Student is just the University long hair for men, while Potions Master is an all-ages edit (I prefer the all-ages version, myself, but I did the Uni version before I realized I should find out if Melodie9 had done an age conversion of it). Right under the title of each hair, it should say Toddler-Elder or Child-Elder or Teen-Elder or Young Adult-Elder, which will be the ages that particular mesh works for-- if I've missed one, please let me know!

The more I play, the more I realize I can't function without all the colors-- I even like having near-whites in the blond bin and near-blonds in the red bin and near-browns in the black bin. It feels more realistic that way. I hope you're having fun binning, though! You can bin a red hair all by itself to give it its own family, if you find you want to get rid of everything in any one family BUT the red.

I found your site a while ago but didn't have the time to properly go through it all but now I have and my downloads folder is on the verge of bursting but who cares! I've downloaded about 110 hairs, all your defaults and your GoS Gifts and I can't wait to open up my old neglected medieval hood and actually start building and playing again. =)

I love your descriptions. Potions Master is making me giggle (and I'm still chuckling over Magic Beans). For all I sternly told myself NO MORE HAIR UNTIL YOU'VE SORTED WHAT YOU HAVE, I'm too much of a sucker for low-poly Maxis recolors/retextures.

Re: liking the men's longsimple hair better than the women's -- The men's hair frames the face better, imo. The women's hair inexplicably stands out from the head in a non-hairlike way for what's supposed to be straight hair. Maxis even meshed the scalp underneath to be weirdly bulbous!

I cannot upload a hair without a cutesy name, it's just not possible for me. Which can suck, because it very frequently takes a while to come up with them-- Twilight and Wisdom and Potions Master were the easiest ones, stupid pop culture.

My stuff will be here once you've sorted what you've got! And there's more Maxis hair coming in the future, so. You know. There's that too. (Unless somebody does it just the way I'd do it. That's one of the few reasons I'll take a hair off my list.)

I noticed the bulbous growth thing on the child and toddler ages the last time I was poking around in Body Shop, and it made me go 'er, why is THAT there?' I'd suggest that the universe needs an MtF of the Uni style, but usually if I'm putting long hair on a girl, I don't stop at shoulder-length. I do like the little forehead strands on the women's version, but it's also got weird corners built into the mesh. A lot of the basegame meshes have weird little bits that make me go "Maxis. Why you do that?"

Is it bad that I'm mostly excited about the base game Not So Romantic one? I have this legacy spouse who I can't stand to give any other hairstyle, because it suits her perfectly, but the Maxoid textures irritate me.

Oh, and those HIM666 ponytails! I have this Sim guy, I'm always telling him he should put his long wavy hair up sometimes, but he tells me it makes him look like a douche. And you know what? He's right. So I'm always looking for new wavy ponytails to try out on him, because it'd look so much better for when he's exercising or even for formalwear, and I think one of those might be the one. I mean, he looks a wee bit like your model, and your model certainly doesn't look douchey.

I must admit that I'm always tempted to download anything you model on Dame Sir, even if I don't need it and will probably never use it at least as long as I don't have a medieval hood, because she's so handsome.

Hey, plenty of those base-game meshes are ridiculously useful, just... kinda funky in the texture area. Hence all the Pookletting. (Well, that and the grabbing of age conversions.)

heheh ah , yes an all redhead sim hood , i have heard of that! im not sure but i think it was alkaloid at mts2 who may have done that , after all his all red hair project was due to him and someone else at mts2 long time ago.
I like seeing historical sims but im not really playing any sadly. it was easier in a way for me to do that in sims2 regency style , they had back then a paper feather quill for a telephone , i have looked none ever did take it place in sims2 eh.
i suspect it jsut too much work and pretty almost impossibnle to do that in regency period , i do love the furniture houses, clothes.
medieval is too rustis for me maybe, the hairs for that period pretty cool though. im thinking maybe sir dame hairs would be good for amazons too perhaps.

Regency is actually one of the easier periods to work with-- like Medieval, the basic shape of women's clothes doesn't eat Sims' hands. -Maylin- (with the dashes) on MTS has a Victorian phone that works well, and Hysterical Paroxysm has a Scroll In A Box phone that I use quite a bit. Somebody has a seashell phone-- I want to say Dr. Pixel-- and over on MATY there's an extracted shell-phone cell phone replacement from Castaway Stories. (Also, Psychosim has a spoon as a cell phone, because Psychosim comes up with the niftiest ideas.) So there are options for phone systems. Mog Hughson's greeting card system would work pretty well, too.

Medieval really isn't all that rustic-- the architecture, maybe, but ideally Medieval clothes should be well-made (since you could expect to be wearing a garment for years, you did your best work on it so it would last), furniture both sturdy and beautifully carved, walls covered in tapestries, churches full of stained-glass windows... The Kingdom of Lothere isn't always perfectly accurate (it's hard to be), but in later photos especially, it has the right general look to it.

Dame Sir's hairs for me are for female Sims of the Cloth (the Church in my game requires that once a man or woman takes formal vows, they never let their hair grow longer than a finger's length, because long hair requires a great deal of care and that's time that could be better spent doing other things) and women who run off to join the military (I have no idea how many of those there will be). I might also use them for women who commit some sort of crime and have their hair cut short as a punishment, or poorer women who sell their long hair to make wigs.

You uploaded them, of course I love the game hairs especially the all ages ones, but this time Quite Deliberate stood out for me. I've never seen that one, but I forsee it getting much abuse.

It's one of the female ancient hairs from M&T Sims Cakestore, which is an awesome site for finding Asian goodies, and elaborate hairs that don't have impossible volume. I like that mesh a lot myself!

I always get a kick out of your names. The writer theme ones amused me, as did "The Willow School"--and speaking of Sim story references, is "Not So Romantic" a nod to Lothere? :P

Just out of curiosity, are there any sort of chin-length, silky-straight-textured female hairs on your to-do list? I kind of hate to ask, but I've been on the lookout for that kind of mesh recently--something that looks like it was hastily cut by the girl herself. If not, no worries, I'm sure I'll find one well before I need it :)

Yes indeed Not So Romantic is a nod to Lothere! Gwynn may be romantic as anything, but her everyday hairstyle... is not, so much, so I just couldn't bear calling it So Romantic.

My hairs that look hastily cut by the girl herself tend to be a little shorter than chin-length, I think... It's too easy for the long hair acceptable on men to look feminine enough to be a giveaway on a woman. However, there's one here (XM Flora 027) and another here, although she says it animates weirdly.

i wondered about the medivale ages , it seem the jewerely were nice then and that men wore ornate jewerly wow. the women clothes look so heavey but very pretty.
i alway think stained glass , heavey doors , furniture back then . do we know a lot about that period to what extent, is it 30 percent or what ? it was the dark ages then too wasnt it .

You know, on Dreamwidth you can reply to a specific comment instead of replying to the post again-- it makes it possible to see your whole conversation at a glance instead of breaking it up throughout the whole thread. All you have to do is click the link where it says 'Reply' under a comment instead of at the top of the page under the entry itself. It's handy!

Women's clothes in the Middle Ages were actually a lot more comfortable and less heavy than their clothes in later eras-- but that will just get me started on a tangent about historical underwear. I'm not sure what you mean by thirty percent-- we know quite a bit from manuscripts and documents, as well as extant furniture, jewelry, armor, and weapons, although portraits and paintings are usually the best resource for clothing. We don't have a lot of inside information on what pre-Christian Vikings were like, unfortunately, but on most of the rest of Medieval Europe? There's lots out there.

Think I'll have a go and express my admiration here too. This is wow... so... what about "too much"!!!
I can't imagine the amount of time spent on this project. The texturing, the time in bodyshop, the time naming the package (do you use a program or rename by hand?), managing the whole stay coherent and working... Pfff.

I'm so happy with some of your choice. I so like long hair for men. And you did the Zelda hair (not on your list at first if I remember well), and Rose51, and BG poofs.

Thank you! I'm not even (quite) done yet! The texturing usually takes the longest-- naming the packages is easy because I copy/paste; all I have to type for each hair is the name, which is a very good way to memorize Pooklet's colors, I'll tell you that right now. I tend to get into a zone once I get started with hairs, which is one reason I do hair dumps-- I just want to make the dang things, not take actually pretty pictures of them.

My list is always changing-- I add things, I decide I don't like things as much as I thought I did at first glance and remove them, I put things on indefinite hold until a fix comes up... And then sometimes I do things like the Zelda hair just because it's there and I like it, whether I'll find a use for it or not.

I'm very cofused to say this, but I can't understand from your previews, which short haircut for males and which for females, if it not signed "MtF" (for example) of something like that.

If it's on the Sim dressed in armor with the two little scars on one cheek, it's for females; if it's on the Sim dressed in green, it's for males. Most of the short hairstyles are for males and short hair on women doesn't have a lot of uses in a Medieval game, so my short female hairstyles generally go on my lady-knight, Dame Sir. If I don't say that a short hair is for women, it's probably for men. But I'm actually pleased you can't tell! Dame Sir was an attempt to build a Sim where it was hard to figure out her sex at first glance.

So, I ran here searching for six to ten hairs (because I love playing with the hairstyles) for fairies, as you know, and I went of with ... sixty, I guess. I was a bit dumbstruck at first... because I was searching for fine hair all along and here you are, having just exactly what I look for en masse!
And being the little stupid girl I am I couldn't resist. I went and downloaded probably all the hair with braids in them, and the male-long-hair-things. I am so in love with males with long hair. And now I can really hear my computer gasping in shock (or fear. Both, most likely).
Poor thing, more than happy me.

I want you to know, my computer my be plotting your death. So watch out. Everytime I say "I don't need anything else for my Sims, I'll just call this the last download and be done" you come out with a new hair dump. The downloads folder is nearly bursting at the seams and my computer hates both of us for it.

I love it though! Your hairs are my favorites. I actually went through bodyshop tonight getting rid of the old nouked versions I had of a few of these and even a few other pookleted versions that just don't seem to hold up to yours.

Oh and... SHORT CURLY HAIR! *giddy squee*

Thank you so much! Part of the point of me doing this-- for myself-- is so I can delete any Pooklet'd version that doesn't have all the hair colors or doesn't quite have the highlights I like. I tend to keep Nouked hairs, because... colors. Mmm colors.
