Hair Dump Yet Again, Part One

It's that time again... I like to call it 'Hair dump time.' This dump is SO BIG I'm splitting it in twain because... well, my swatch pics are on the big side.

There are forty-one hairs lurking here for your downloading pleasure, and as usual they're hairs I kind of want, which means they're on the Medieval side. Since there are forty-one hairs (in two entries), you're getting boilerplate outside the cut.

One: NO PAYSITES. I use Pooklet's actions, Pooklet says no, Pooklet is entitled to that.

Two: Meshes are included, swatches are (or should be) in the files. I have no idea what the poly counts are, but I generally assume that Newsea is high, Nouk is reasonable, and Peggy is all over the map. All these files are compressorized for your pleasure, but a lot of them are still pretty frickin' huge. Four families, Pooklet's grays plus one homebrew because everything must be even omigod, plus bonus custom Time Bomb in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you.

Three: Please beat these files up. No, really. Don't like my binning? Fine, go on and re-bin 'em. Give the elders colors instead of grays (there are three ways to go about this that I know of). Do the unnaturals. For the love of god, shorten my file names-- just because I credit everybody right in the name of the folder doesn't mean you have to leave it that way. I shorten them just for use myself. Change the tooltips, do whatever makes you happy. I don't care. Just give credit where credit is due if you re-upload later.

Four: I have some donators to thank, and I'm just going to say "Thank you donators!" to respect everybody's fiscal privacy. Folks, my Photobucket is paid, so I have zero bandwidth worries. I don't think I'd be doing hair dumps if not for that. Itty bitty proper single posts once in a blue moon when I finally took pictures, but not dumps.

Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Originally, this had a ribbon woven through the braid. I failed to duplicate that when I shoehorned Pooklet's textures onto the mesh, so the braid disappears a bit on darker colors in some lights.

It's kind of a messy hairdo, all that long hair, but I tell you what-- I love it for use with underwear. If you have Seasons, the hair you set with your underwear is the hair your Sim wears while naked-- doesn't this look like bathtime hair?

*laughs* No, no, I got it! I've also got nearly a gig of hair I've done myself, so I know how you feel. I have this... this urge to just... Pooklet everything I can and dump anything else that isn't Nouked...

It does tend to add up, doesn't it? Especially with so many different color actions which are all very attractive. I'm Pookleting and Aelia-ing some furniture right now, and I can't possibly make all the colors and patterns that I'd ideally like to have. There's just too much.

Man, I hear you. I still need to weed my Downloads folder again-- I've just about accepted that I can't do with less than two gigs of hair, it's just not happening, but I'm slowly doing a massive overhaul in terms of Pooklettishness, which at least leaves me with some very good organization... There's less in the Buy folder, but more I want to take out, except I have this problem with downloading things like clutter in sets for just one or two items... Very frustrating stuff. Don't even get me started on clothes.

Two gigs of hair? My entire downloads folder is less than two gigs. I used to have seven or eight, and my hair folder was probably the same size as yours, but my game just ran too slowly. I'm on a low-download diet now. It's very difficult to maintain. I think I really need to stop downloading skintones and AF clothing, though. I have enough of it and I don't actually use everything I have.

I actually do feel like I could use more hair, though. Especially for men! So that's why I've been grabbing so much of your stuff.

Ahhh, but bear in mind I run a themed game, and I don't use most of the Maxis hair (although I bet I'll use more when Ja and Pinketamine do some more default sets). Gotta have the right CC for a themed game, after all.

Everybody seems to have more hair than any other type of download-- I think it's because hair is such an easy way to set your Sims apart. My problem is that I have a shit-ton of Random Content that... almost works, but the more I look at it, the less I like it...

Yeah, I don't use much Maxis hair either. :-\ I wish it didn't suck so much, and failing that, I wish I could default it all, or just delete it from my game.

I totally did not know that Pinketamine made hair defaults! I'll have to go look for those.

She's been working on some base game ones-- she's posted a couple in the Show Off Your Creations thread that make me go DO WANT so hard. So very, very hard.

There are a few things I kind of like-- my earlier hair dumps had some M&G hair in-- but Maxis textures just don't suit every single Sim ever.
