hat_plays_simsThis is... not a terribly original set, but it's a set I made to please myself, and if there's one thing I know, it's that if I want something? At least ten people who keep an eye on this blog also want the thing.
So what you get here is, uh, Magic Uniforms, basically: if you took the Apartment Life witch-wizard-warlock stuff and designated it as the Official Magus Uniform, that'd be what this is. Stuff I made, stuff Skell made, stuff Digi made, stuff Ghanima made, stuff Neder made and ElfPuddle edited, stuff that didn't really NEED to get made but I did it anyway, and all of it except the hatless hairs a) pinned to Apartment Life and b) BINX-edited so they stay together at the very front of the AL section of the catalog, and all of it heavily texture-referenced.
What do you get? Well!
Some of this and some of this and of course this and a little of this and a few changes to this and some tweaks to this and some new stuff entirely!
The interesting thing about 'witch' and 'wizard' is that they both stem from the same root word-- wit or wise. However! While 'witch' seems to come from 'one who uses their wits,' sort of to work their will on the world around them, 'wizard' has the '-ard' suffix, as in mustard, drunkard, coward, bastard. Too much must (the flavor), too drunk, to cowed, too base. Wizard, effectively, means 'one who is too smart for their own good.' It's frustrating in a hilarious sort of way, so I like 'mage' as a nice gender-neutral alignment-free term.

Invoking The Spirit Bonehilda
Sentate's Bonehilda mesh with Maxis and Neder textures, much smooshed around.

Invoking The Spirit's Bonehilda (custom, not default replacement) has been AL-pinned and BINX-edited and given a brand new Scarlet Witch recolor. The Good, Neutral, and Evil are my original files and will (or should) overwrite the old ones, but I can't recall if I made Invoking the Spirit before I knew brackets and spaces slowed loading, so you may need to remove old files by hand. Included are courtesy copies of a very old headless skin and invisible eyes, which are necessary to make Bonehilda... Bonehilda. (I did not make them. I'm not sure who did? They might be Bink13y's, but I have a headless skin, not an invisible skin. (This does mean if you want to put hair on Bonehilda as shown, you will have to use something with a lot of alpha layers. The scalp layer glows and I don't know why, but that's just how invisible skins work.) Bonehilda is solidly stand-alone, as she has no age conversions. Suitable for Servo makeovers or Skelebros (or if you want to replace... I don't know, hula zombies or the social bunny or something), the BINX numbers on Bonehilda are as follows:

Skell's Spectral Assistant BINX-edited and AL-pinned, with brand new Scarlet Witch and Red Mage recolors! Again, you could use these for Servo makeovers or for Skelebros... maybe even the custom Fairy or Ghost lifestates? Social Bunnies? Included are courtesy copies of a very old headless skin and invisible eyes, because without those you get weird floating cut-off heads. The hats on these have no hairs or scalps at all, and make nice witch hats for Bonehilda-- they might work for other outfits where the head is part of the clothes and you need a proper headless skin. Red hats are stand-alone, as is the Red dress, while the Red Mage robe references the AM wizard robe just below. Good, Neutral, and Evil are Skell's original files and texture-referenced to Apartment Life and thus require Apartment Life. BINX sortindex numbers have been changed to:

PLEASE NOTE: the YAEM Red Mage textures here are referenced by not only all ages of the Wizard Robe but also the male Spectral Assistant and Traveler's Robes.
The Apartment Life Wizard/Warlock robes for PU-YAEU in Good, Neutral, Evil, and Red Mage, available for Casual, Formal, and Outerwear. The CU, PU, and TF-EF Good, Neutral, and Evil robes are Skell's originals with BINX edits; the TM-YAEM robes are plain old Apartment Life recolors I made myself, so that you can have these AND whatever defaults tickle your fancy, depending on your default-replacement method. Apartment Life is technically only required for the original three alignments (for all age/gender combos) and the mesh on the TM and YAEM Red Mages... but the PU-EF Red Mage files are texture-referenced to the YAEM Red Mage robe, so... Requires Apartment Life or fiddling around to extract the TXTR into its own package. The Red Mage is... largely Neder's original textures, but I cleaned things up around the belt, eliminated leftover Neutral Green, and, instead of recoloring the Good swirly thing or Neutral leaf, the clasps on the Red mage robe are from a beaded oak leaf trim I had in my Useful Textures folder. This is, somehow and sadly, the only option I have for CM-- it's available for CU so girls have TWO options-- or for Toddlers of either gender. (I did consider doing Ghanima's CF conversion, but then there'd be two skirted options and still only one with pants.) Although I didn't flag anything for Maternity, I believe Skell's FtM meshes have all morphs (or at least the AF mesh), and I have included an optional manternity default mesh (also by Skell). The BINX numbers for these files are:

These are my own original files from Invoking the Spirit and Scarlet Witch-- the custom versions, not the defaults, so you can still use whatever Witch and Matchmaker defaults tickle your fancy. They should overwrite the originals, but at least Invoking the Spirit may have been made before I learned about spaces and brackets being bad for loading times, so you may have to manually remove any old files. Child and Teen conversions have been texture-referenced to the Adult packages, so keep those, and everything has been pinned to Apartment Life and BINX-edited. The BINX Sortindex numbers are:

I did not realize there was a unique EF mesh when I made my Scarlet Witch recolors, so the AF files are enabled for Young Adult and elder. (Feel free to edit the property sets to hide Skell's EFs (Flags to 0x00000009) or change my YAEFs to YAFs (Age to 0x00000048) if it pleases you.) Yuxi's Traveler's Robe is mapped exactly the same as the Apartment Life Wizard Robe, just shortened to tunic length and with a more modest collar, thus recoloring them was as easy as coordinating matching pants. These have two groups, one for the coat and one for the pants; the coats on Good, Neutral, and Evil are texture-referenced to Apartment Life, while the Red Mage coats are texture-referenced to my Red Mage Wizard Robes. The Teen pants and boots require the Adult versions. I can't remember if this is pregmorphed or not, but I liked the overall look of a shorter robe with riding or hunting boots. As with everything else, these have been Apartment Life-pinned and BINX sorted. The BINX numbers are:

The Red Mage version is mostly Neder's texture, touched up a bit by me and given a band of those beaded oak leaves I used on the robe closures, and it is stand-alone. No BV-binned option, again, but the bin number for layering purposes is 97C7B0. The BINX numbers are:

So, since you can download this one here, what I've mostly done is...
1. Updated filenames to avoid special characters
2. Geneticized Time Bomb
3. Included Rugrat0ne's extracted mesh for TF through EF (included with Stand-Alone options)
4. Optionally pinned everything to Apartment Life
5. Optionally BINX-edited the most-referenced version
So what are your options?
Stand-Alone... stands alone, extracted mesh included. Each color has a gray attached as per my normal 'this functions as-is AND is easily editable by the end user' binning system. Rugrat0ne's extracted mesh is included, but doesn't need to be installed if you have Apartment Life.
Referenced Hats takes hat textures from Apartment Life, and as such requires Apartment Life. There's still a gray attached to each hair.
Fully-Referenced, in this case, takes hat textures from Apartment Life and has grays binned with blacks, because this is the lead for hairs on all witch hats. You have to keep Good, or extract the textures at least.
You can also get Stand-Alone, Referenced Hats, or Fully Referenced pinned to Apartment Life.
The most edited version is AL-Pinned Fully Referenced & BINX Sorted, which has grays binned to black, references the AL hat textures, is pinned to Apartment Life in the catalog, and has had its BINX sortindex numbers edited to immediately follow the Spectral Assistant hats. This is the version I recommend to downloaders who do not use hiders, at least if you want an AL-pinned set. If there are other hairs in your Apartment Life section, these might be at the other end of the catalog, and Scarlet Witch might be in the right order, but will not follow immediately after Only Bad Witches.

"When first I appear, I seem mysterious," says the Mysterious Man in Into the Woods, when he first introduces himself, and the audience thinks he's going to be part of Jack's side of the story. ... At least in the stage version. I have no idea if he's in the Disney version. Ahem.
First of four wizard hats, this is the Good aligned version. There are multiple download options; choose only one, and the terminology is gonna be the same for all wizard hats here: Stand-alone is... stand-alone, binned my usual way; you can grab it either... uh, regular, or pinned to Apartment Life. Referenced Hats saves you a little space by... well, referencing the Apartment Life hats, and again, you can grab it loose in the CC-starred section or pinned to Apartment Life. Fully Referenced, for this particular hair, means that the Grays are pinned to Black instead of my usual every-color-has-a-gray, AND the hats are AL-referenced. "When first I appear," says the Mysterious Man in his final living appearance (Into the Woods is a weird show, okay), "I seem deleterious," and that seemed like a good spot for the Evil recolor of the Wizard Hat. Here's the part where I mention that Maxis did something weird to the TM scalp, and link a picture, because... Trapping did not include a TM mesh. That's a Maxis weirdie. Anyway! As with Delirious/Neutral, Deleterious is available in standalone, with AL-referenced hats, with AL referenced hats and Mysterious-referenced hair, all of those options but also pinned to Apartment Life, or Fully-referenced and pinned to Apartment Life and BINX sorted.

"When first I appear, I seem mysterious (delirious) (deleterious), but once explained, I'm nothing serious," claims the Mysterious Man, who bullshits a lot for a guy who's generally pretty helpful. This is the Neder Red Mage (with gold oak leaf trim) version of the wizard's hat; as with the others you can grab Stand-Alone, Referenced Hats (the lead there is either Dynamite or the optional TXTR file if you really must chuck Dynamite), Fully-Referenced (hats to Dynamite or the TXTR file, hairs to Good/Mysterious), any of those AL-Pinned, or Fully-Referenced, AL-pinned, and BINX-sorted.
Of note! For the hats to have a texture, you either have to keep the Dynamite recolor OR hold onto the included TXTR_HAT file... because this one can only reference itself, not Apartment Life.

This was going to be Magic Beans Redux, because I did do the actual Long In Front Store hair some years ago, with Nymphy textures... but they were very Maxis-y textures and I just. I just did not like them. I put off doing the wizard hat for AGES because I didn't like the textures, and because Trapping had done an all-ages wizard hat but there was no all-ages hair to go underneath. And then, in exchange for making some textures for her, MGSB made me this mesh! And I got stuck in Into the Woods as a naming theme, so you get a phrase Jack's Mother used while searching for him: "A young lad with carrot-top hair and a sunny if occasionally vague disposition."

When I was asking around if anyone knew of an all-ages Long In Front conversion, Fanseelamb's Shorter Store Hair was brought up-- and though it's not exactly what's under the wizard hat, it's a nice looking hair that I probably would've happily accepted... but she flipped it. That, however, led to yet another Into the Woods line for a title, from the Witch so it's still pretty thematic: "You wish to have the curse reversed? I'll need a certain potion first." This could be texture-referenced to Occasionally Vague-- or even Mysterious-- but it isn't.

This was a frustrating mesh to find, honestly, cos it's an MtF of an edit, and not the original. Really, it's only loosely connected to the whole Mage College thing, but this is still a good place for it! Could be texture-referenced with the rest of the wizardly hairs if you so desire. The phrase 'Baking Accident' comes up twice in Into the Woods, first from the Narrator, describing the Baker-- "whose parents had died in a baking accident-- or so the Baker believed," and later, when trying to explain to Red Ridinghood why the bakery is in disarray (a giant has passed by), "... We've had a... a baking accident."

This is almost exactly the hair I want! It's not mapped quite the same as the under-the-witch-hat hair (the bangs are on a separate texture group), and it's only TF-EF, like the Maxis witch hat, instead of PF-EF, but it's close to the hair I want in that it is, basically, the under-the-witch-hat hair. The Maxis basegame Lowbun with Barrette bangs. Close enough and very cute! Uses Magpie's lowbun default textures, and my squooshing of Nouk's Waves as the Barrette bangs for the...bangs. This time, the title reference isn't Into the Woods, but Terry Pratchett: A witch is a witch whether she's wearing a physical pointy hat or not, as young Tiffany Aching learns in A Hat Full of Sky.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. I don't do pay content and I can't seem to get requests done in a timely fashion, so donors get a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery (you help feed my cats, you get to see lots and lots of pictures of my cats) and my to-do list Google doc, in case there's anything on there that makes a donor go 'oooh, when are you working on that one?'
So what you get here is, uh, Magic Uniforms, basically: if you took the Apartment Life witch-wizard-warlock stuff and designated it as the Official Magus Uniform, that'd be what this is. Stuff I made, stuff Skell made, stuff Digi made, stuff Ghanima made, stuff Neder made and ElfPuddle edited, stuff that didn't really NEED to get made but I did it anyway, and all of it except the hatless hairs a) pinned to Apartment Life and b) BINX-edited so they stay together at the very front of the AL section of the catalog, and all of it heavily texture-referenced.

The interesting thing about 'witch' and 'wizard' is that they both stem from the same root word-- wit or wise. However! While 'witch' seems to come from 'one who uses their wits,' sort of to work their will on the world around them, 'wizard' has the '-ard' suffix, as in mustard, drunkard, coward, bastard. Too much must (the flavor), too drunk, to cowed, too base. Wizard, effectively, means 'one who is too smart for their own good.' It's frustrating in a hilarious sort of way, so I like 'mage' as a nice gender-neutral alignment-free term.

Invoking The Spirit Bonehilda

Invoking The Spirit's Bonehilda (custom, not default replacement) has been AL-pinned and BINX-edited and given a brand new Scarlet Witch recolor. The Good, Neutral, and Evil are my original files and will (or should) overwrite the old ones, but I can't recall if I made Invoking the Spirit before I knew brackets and spaces slowed loading, so you may need to remove old files by hand. Included are courtesy copies of a very old headless skin and invisible eyes, which are necessary to make Bonehilda... Bonehilda. (I did not make them. I'm not sure who did? They might be Bink13y's, but I have a headless skin, not an invisible skin. (This does mean if you want to put hair on Bonehilda as shown, you will have to use something with a lot of alpha layers. The scalp layer glows and I don't know why, but that's just how invisible skins work.) Bonehilda is solidly stand-alone, as she has no age conversions. Suitable for Servo makeovers or Skelebros (or if you want to replace... I don't know, hula zombies or the social bunny or something), the BINX numbers on Bonehilda are as follows:

The Apartment Life Wizard/Warlock robes for PU-YAEU in Good, Neutral, Evil, and Red Mage, available for Casual, Formal, and Outerwear. The CU, PU, and TF-EF Good, Neutral, and Evil robes are Skell's originals with BINX edits; the TM-YAEM robes are plain old Apartment Life recolors I made myself, so that you can have these AND whatever defaults tickle your fancy, depending on your default-replacement method. Apartment Life is technically only required for the original three alignments (for all age/gender combos) and the mesh on the TM and YAEM Red Mages... but the PU-EF Red Mage files are texture-referenced to the YAEM Red Mage robe, so... Requires Apartment Life or fiddling around to extract the TXTR into its own package. The Red Mage is... largely Neder's original textures, but I cleaned things up around the belt, eliminated leftover Neutral Green, and, instead of recoloring the Good swirly thing or Neutral leaf, the clasps on the Red mage robe are from a beaded oak leaf trim I had in my Useful Textures folder. This is, somehow and sadly, the only option I have for CM-- it's available for CU so girls have TWO options-- or for Toddlers of either gender. (I did consider doing Ghanima's CF conversion, but then there'd be two skirted options and still only one with pants.) Although I didn't flag anything for Maternity, I believe Skell's FtM meshes have all morphs (or at least the AF mesh), and I have included an optional manternity default mesh (also by Skell). Yuxi's Traveler's Robe is mapped exactly the same as the Apartment Life Wizard Robe, just shortened to tunic length and with a more modest collar, thus recoloring them was as easy as coordinating matching pants. These have two groups, one for the coat and one for the pants; the coats on Good, Neutral, and Evil are texture-referenced to Apartment Life, while the Red Mage coats are texture-referenced to my Red Mage Wizard Robes. The Teen pants and boots require the Adult versions. I can't remember if this is pregmorphed or not, but I liked the overall look of a shorter robe with riding or hunting boots. As with everything else, these have been Apartment Life-pinned and BINX sorted. The BINX numbers are:

3. Included Rugrat0ne's extracted mesh for TF through EF (included with Stand-Alone options)
4. Optionally pinned everything to Apartment Life
5. Optionally BINX-edited the most-referenced version
So what are your options?
Stand-Alone... stands alone, extracted mesh included. Each color has a gray attached as per my normal 'this functions as-is AND is easily editable by the end user' binning system. Rugrat0ne's extracted mesh is included, but doesn't need to be installed if you have Apartment Life.
Referenced Hats takes hat textures from Apartment Life, and as such requires Apartment Life. There's still a gray attached to each hair.
Fully-Referenced, in this case, takes hat textures from Apartment Life and has grays binned with blacks, because this is the lead for hairs on all witch hats. You have to keep Good, or extract the textures at least.
You can also get Stand-Alone, Referenced Hats, or Fully Referenced pinned to Apartment Life.
The most edited version is AL-Pinned Fully Referenced & BINX Sorted, which has grays binned to black, references the AL hat textures, is pinned to Apartment Life in the catalog, and has had its BINX sortindex numbers edited to immediately follow the Spectral Assistant hats. This is the version I recommend to downloaders who do not use hiders, at least if you want an AL-pinned set. If there are other hairs in your Apartment Life section, these might be at the other end of the catalog, and Scarlet Witch might be in the right order, but will not follow immediately after Only Bad Witches.

"When first I appear," says the Mysterious Man in his final living appearance (Into the Woods is a weird show, okay), "I seem deleterious," and that seemed like a good spot for the Evil recolor of the Wizard Hat. Here's the part where I mention that Maxis did something weird to the TM scalp, and link a picture, because... Trapping did not include a TM mesh. That's a Maxis weirdie. Anyway! "When first I appear, I seem mysterious (delirious) (deleterious), but once explained, I'm nothing serious," claims the Mysterious Man, who bullshits a lot for a guy who's generally pretty helpful. This is the Neder Red Mage (with gold oak leaf trim) version of the wizard's hat; as with the others you can grab Stand-Alone, Referenced Hats (the lead there is either Dynamite or the optional TXTR file if you really must chuck Dynamite), Fully-Referenced (hats to Dynamite or the TXTR file, hairs to Good/Mysterious), any of those AL-Pinned, or Fully-Referenced, AL-pinned, and BINX-sorted.
Of note! For the hats to have a texture, you either have to keep the Dynamite recolor OR hold onto the included TXTR_HAT file... because this one can only reference itself, not Apartment Life.

This was going to be Magic Beans Redux, because I did do the actual Long In Front Store hair some years ago, with Nymphy textures... but they were very Maxis-y textures and I just. I just did not like them. I put off doing the wizard hat for AGES because I didn't like the textures, and because Trapping had done an all-ages wizard hat but there was no all-ages hair to go underneath. And then, in exchange for making some textures for her, MGSB made me this mesh! And I got stuck in Into the Woods as a naming theme, so you get a phrase Jack's Mother used while searching for him: "A young lad with carrot-top hair and a sunny if occasionally vague disposition."

When I was asking around if anyone knew of an all-ages Long In Front conversion, Fanseelamb's Shorter Store Hair was brought up-- and though it's not exactly what's under the wizard hat, it's a nice looking hair that I probably would've happily accepted... but she flipped it. That, however, led to yet another Into the Woods line for a title, from the Witch so it's still pretty thematic: "You wish to have the curse reversed? I'll need a certain potion first." This could be texture-referenced to Occasionally Vague-- or even Mysterious-- but it isn't.

This was a frustrating mesh to find, honestly, cos it's an MtF of an edit, and not the original. Really, it's only loosely connected to the whole Mage College thing, but this is still a good place for it! Could be texture-referenced with the rest of the wizardly hairs if you so desire. The phrase 'Baking Accident' comes up twice in Into the Woods, first from the Narrator, describing the Baker-- "whose parents had died in a baking accident-- or so the Baker believed," and later, when trying to explain to Red Ridinghood why the bakery is in disarray (a giant has passed by), "... We've had a... a baking accident."

"I don't want to scare the poor thing!"
"You can't scare her!"

This is almost exactly the hair I want! It's not mapped quite the same as the under-the-witch-hat hair (the bangs are on a separate texture group), and it's only TF-EF, like the Maxis witch hat, instead of PF-EF, but it's close to the hair I want in that it is, basically, the under-the-witch-hat hair. The Maxis basegame Lowbun with Barrette bangs. Close enough and very cute! Uses Magpie's lowbun default textures, and my squooshing of Nouk's Waves as the Barrette bangs for the...bangs. This time, the title reference isn't Into the Woods, but Terry Pratchett: A witch is a witch whether she's wearing a physical pointy hat or not, as young Tiffany Aching learns in A Hat Full of Sky.
