Oooh, then the farmhouse in Tudor Monastery Farm might be useful for you, too-- although that's not a merchant household, it's a squarely middle-class one, with the downstairs for living and the upstairs for sleeping. But it's not unreasonable for your merchants to be living alarmingly high on the hog-- that's why sumptuary laws happened. Oh no region restrictions! At least it sounds like you might be able to see it on the BBC's actual website, at least if you're actually in England?
