HAIR DUMP XII, Part Two: Mars Needs Hair Dumps!

Behind the cut lurk twenty-four hairs for your downloading pleasure.

Since there are a zillion downloads inside the cut, the boilerplate goes outside the cut, so...

NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, my policy says I want a cut (like that would ever happen), but Pooklet says no and these are Pooklet's actions. So no paysites.

HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included unless otherwise noted. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Poly counts may vary; MAKE NOTES. Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).

ANNOYING THINGS I DO: Because I credit everybody in them, my folder and file names are stupidly long. Feel free to shorten one, the other, or both as you please-- better you edit them to suit your needs than I just name everything [COLOR NAME] and cheese everybody off, right? Also, each hair color has an elder gray attached instead of only black. Feel free to re-bin everything and cut out the extra grays, or only use one family but swap out textures so your elders have some variety, whatever. Likewise, I bin using Pooklet's original scheme, because it's a nice easy default. I totally do not care if you re-bin things to suit your own tastes (but hey, every hair has a gray attached in case you need it!), and neither does Pooklet, so do whatever makes you happy, binning-wise.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Yes, if you want to do the unnaturals, please feel free to do the unnaturals. I have no plans to do so. Just remember to credit properly-- I tend to use Nouk's waves, FR's braid, and a chunk of curve I stole off Ja's Uni ponytail default.

Okay, so, I tend to like Maxis hairs a lot of the time, but not so much Maxis textures. For extra bonus points, the M&G hairs actually had broken AGES, and when I first recolored David and Achilles, I had pretty much no goddamned idea what in hell I was doing with SimPE-- or Photoshop! So, here's Mansion & Garden Achilles, all spruced up with Nouk's delicious waves, with the teens actually properly aging up into the right hair.

Fixed the teens again, and adjusted the brightness and contrast a bit-- not only do you see more detail in the curls, but you get truer Project Mayhem colors. Seriously my god when I started I did NOT know what I was doing. It's amazing so many of my older hairs hold up at ALL.

And while I was pasting and warping Nouk's waves onto Achilles, I edited out the bits that hang over the ears so I could see what I was doing... and lo and behold I discovered it looked pretty good without those bits! So I figured, like the little girl in the taco shell commercials, "¿Por qué no las dos?" You can have both, for tidy formalwear hair and wild sweaty gym clothes wear, whatever tickles your fancy. (Remember, if you have Seasons or later, the Swimwear hair is what your Sim will have on when they're naked. ... And you need M&G for these three reduces to work, so, yeah.)

Over on the ladies' entry, I linked to a little article about Queen Philippa (whose name gets spelled a couple of different ways). She was mother to Edward, the Black Prince-- who was called the Black Prince (and in France, 'Le Noir') long before he ever started wearing black armor. So THAT'S historically significant and therefore interesting. ... Also I really like how this hair took the super-curly textures.

As I mentioned in the ladies' entry, I've tossed some new models into my Sim Bin. This is Farflight. This hair (in Depth Charge) was literally MADE for Farflight. Given that I asked Garden of Shadows to help me find a good mesh for Farflight with the phrase "Like Hawkeye just rolled out of bed," this hair was almost named "Aw, Hair" or "Hawkguy." Because I'm a giant nerd.

Meet another new guy! This is Blackmist (the new people's names are ridiculous, but it's okay because they aren't human when they aren't Sims), he's Farflight's business partner (and good friend, even if that's rarely acknowledged both openly and sincerely). Blackmist got lucky, this is his regular hairstyle, so there's one spot today where he's actually allowed to look like himself. (His right hair color is Flash Powder. He should also have on stubble, due to being SO PASTY, but I failed to fight with it in this pic.)

However... I have done a couple of Medieval Androgyny dresses for men, and gosh, I'd like to do more such things. On the other hand... some FtM hairs don't look spectacularly feminine or even terrifically impractical within the period. Alas, due to single-group mesh alpha issues, you can't combine this hair with massive full beards on the Santa or Father Time meshes. That doesn't mean it's unsuitable for beards at all.

I was just messing around, but I actually REALLY like how this hair looks with armor. Sure, it clips a little bit, but not much. This is another cute one-- one that I got to be the very first person to retexture-- but it's got so many little see-through TS3 alpha spots that... I just don't know. It doesn't look too bad on Blackmist, here, and it might work okay on Sims who don't have a ton of contrast between their skintone and their hair color.

This MESH my gosh. Okay, things to say about this mesh. It's mapped exactly the same as the Nightwish meshes, should you want to slave things, but use Nightwish as the master, especially on the Nouklet'd versions (which this is not). There's a small alpha wobble that looks fine on Siren Forest but causes hovering hair strands on Nightwish; Nightwish has the fixed version. (And again, Blackmist is playing underwear model in the turnaround. He's like that.)

The White Knight here is actually Sandra, my Neutral Witch, genderswapped and stripped of makeup. That boyish, innocent look really worked with armor and ALL THE HAIR. Nightwish is quickly becoming a favorite mesh... which is problematic, because it's just high-poly enough that I'd fret about using it on everyone. My usual hard limit for hair mesh polycounts is 'under 10K, unless it's spectacular or necessary to the period.' Nightwish and Siren Forest count as spectacular AND necessary to the period.
