HAIR DUMP XII, Part One: Amazon Hair Dump From The Moon!

Behind the cut lurk twenty-four hairs for your downloading pleasure.

Since there are a zillion downloads inside the cut, the boilerplate goes outside the cut, so...

NO PAYSITES. Mesh creators' policies may vary, my policy says I want a cut (like that would ever happen), but Pooklet says no and these are Pooklet's actions. So no paysites.

HEY LISTEN! Meshes are included unless otherwise noted. Swatches are included in the zip files, everything is compressorized. Poly counts may vary; MAKE NOTES. Elders go gray, but you also get Time Bomb in the custom bin, just in case Primer isn't platinum enough for you. All female hairs are maternity-wear enabled from teen and up, and all male hairs from YA and up, to stop the weird hair disappearing act that happens if you don't have a Pregnant Sims Wear Any Outfit hack (but why wouldn't you?).

ANNOYING THINGS I DO: Because I credit everybody in them, my folder and file names are stupidly long. Feel free to shorten one, the other, or both as you please-- better you edit them to suit your needs than I just name everything [COLOR NAME] and cheese everybody off, right? Also, each hair color has an elder gray attached instead of only black. Feel free to re-bin everything and cut out the extra grays, or only use one family but swap out textures so your elders have some variety, whatever. Likewise, I bin using Pooklet's original scheme, because it's a nice easy default. I totally do not care if you re-bin things to suit your own tastes (but hey, every hair has a gray attached in case you need it!), and neither does Pooklet, so do whatever makes you happy, binning-wise.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.

Yes, if you want to do the unnaturals, please feel free to do the unnaturals. I have no plans to do so. Just remember to credit properly-- I tend to use Nouk's waves, FR's braid, and a chunk of curve I stole off Ja's Uni ponytail default.

These are all-ages witch hats, in three versions: the first is a straight-up download, all textures included. The second is a SLAVED download, drawing witch hat textures from the Apartment Life files, saving a bit of room. Having pretty, Medieval witch gowns thanks to Cynnix and Morgaine and an adorable Bonehilda spectral assistant thanks to FaeChangeling, really it only made sense to do the witch hats once Trapping released them. Someday, I hope for an all-ages conversion of the Sims 2 Store Long in Front hair and a robe-instead-of-pants version of the AL wizard/Warlock clothes, so I can have a full set. ... And really, I probably ought to bang something up for magical toddlers...

And because I have three notes sections, of course I want to reveal where my names came from. The Good Witch has a line from Into The Woods, in Little Red Ridinghood's number I Know Things Now:

The Neutral witch's title comes from the trope of the same name (I apologize for linking to TV Tropes). And the Wicked Witch? Straight out of Wizard of Oz. (Though of course only bad witches are ugly. You should never call a witch who's any GOOD at witchcraft anything less flattering than 'handsome, considering.')

This one is mapped the same way as the Maxis Long hair (as seen on Bella Goth and the NPC maids)... but not only is it lusciously long, it only has one group, making it NOT a nightmare to recolor. I doubled the texture size so I could get curls on this one without losing detail, and there are three scrunched-up lengths of Nouk's waves on the back of the hair to avoid the texture stretching out in sad, unappealing ways.

Got some new models this time around, because I spent a couple of days in a Sim-making mood. The newbies aren't actually Medieval Sims (though I might, for entertainment purposes, give them personalities and turn-ons and such and throw them in a testerhood house with ACR on to see what happens)-- they're characters from an entirely unrelated project who I wanted to see as humans out of sheer whimsy. This is Bounce. (Their names are silly.) And the first use of Bounce's face sees Bounce's actual hair, even (in Safety Fuse, if you're curious).

And this is Echo! Echo is not actually captain's mate, she's captain. Bounce is first mate. Normally Echo wears much shorter hair than this, but I was playing around and stuck this one on her and went '... holy crap, hon, you're beautiful, what happened?' Yes this IS a high-poly mesh, but it's one of those high-poly meshes where I go "Yes, I can see exactly WHY this mesh needs more than ten thousand polys, GIVE IT TO ME NOW." There's a male version of this hair folks inclined could slave to or from, and Trapping's Newsea Siren Forest, which is also in this dump, uses the exact same mapping and could also be slaved to or from Nightwish. If you can't save polys, save space!

I've done this hair before, using Pooklet's V2 textures, but I was playing around with things and decided "Why not?" Just because this particular hairstyle will probably only see any use in the Tropics doesn't mean I don't need two versions. The hats are set up the same way as my previous Castaway Stories hats, one color selection per family. You can easily slave or texture-swap if you want things a bit more mixed up.

If you want to slave the hair textures on Favorite Wife to save a little space (they are large), slave 'em to this! Because if it's remotely possible, I will give you the hair both with and without the hat, and it's not unreasonable that elaborate woven grass, feather, and seashell headdresses are only really worn for special occasions.

I am a madwoman. I did three versions of this hair for both sexes. This is the shiniest one, using Nouk's waves, and it still didn't come out quite like I'd hoped. ... Don't get me wrong, I like how it came out, but it's not what I was picturing. Like a lot of TS3 hairs, there are some slight alpha issues on this one... but unlike a lot of TS3 hairs, it's not bad enough to bother me, here.

And finally, with the original textures! The alpha issues are still present, but far less noticeable on these-- not that they're particularly bad on this mesh in general (at least if you really work to fill in as many gaps as you can). There are a lot of knights in this dump, because somehow some of the textures just BEGGED to be shown off with armor, whether on men or women.

It says OFB, but unlike a lot of other all-ages expansion pack hairs, this one does NOT require OFB. Also, despite this being a short female hair, which ordinarily means Dame Sir would wear it and confuse people, for some reason Echo ran away with it. She's normally got short hair, but she also normally keeps it out of her eyes. This hair, and the male version Cynnix womped up for me in the next post, are also request hairs.

There are hairs out there in Sims 2 Download Land that have twenty thousand polys for simple, straight styles... and then there's this mesh. This glorious mesh, which is about double what I'd consider to be a 'reasonable for any sort of style' poly count, but which PERFECTLY NAILS those glorious, long, ridiculous curls used as artistic shorthand for "This woman is beautiful" even when the artwork itself (due to being on the small side, or done by a hand better suited to elaborate lettering, or painted with uncooperative materials) didn't actually manage to be beautiful. The ladies in the Manesse Codex have those long curls, and the lady in the pink houppelande in April of the Très Riches Heures, and even Bellifortis, Queen of Sheba, whose features have gotten a little bit lost to time and dark paint pigment in the last six hundred years. When I saw this hair, I HAD to recolor it, loading up on the highlights and playing a long game of squash-and-stretch to get them onto the curls prettily, then warping the textures to make them meet up with the alphas.

To The Fair

And then, of course, I did it again. Because why wouldn't I? Just to see how it turned out with Nouk's waves. In some ways, I like this version better; the long curls themselves are certainly richer and fuller. I think the upper part suffers a little from a sort of 'wet look' that was a lot worse before I fiddled with the contrast. You can slave the Siren Forest recolors to the Nightwish ones... but use Nightwish as masters, at least on the Nouk Waves versions. There's an alpha issue that doesn't show on this mesh but leads to some floating strands of hair on the Nightwish ones. It's not fixed on To The Fair because a) I did To The Fair first and b) it's not an issue on To The Fair. (The model here is Aerocorn, another newbie with a silly name like Echo and Bounce. Her normal non-hair-dump coloring is either Primer or Time Bomb (I lean toward Primer), and her face was an attempt at a long, ever so slightly horsey face while still coming off as both innocent and attractive.)

Speaking of the correct master in a slaving situation, here's Echo again, again in Nightwish, again looking ridiculously stunning. Sure, Echo was intended to look nicer than she actually is-- not with Bounce's open, friendly face, but harmless. This was the first Nightwish recolor I put on her and it was like a punch to the gut. While Nouk's waves only improve part of Siren Forest, they look AMAZING on Nightwish and I'm so glad I tried it. So's Echo.

Dame Sir is back and reclaiming short hairs in full plate armor. This mesh was one I found thanks to a WCIF thread on GoS (which was more of a recommendation request thread; I knew meshes like what I wanted had to EXIST but I hadn't found 'em), and I tried something new on the shading. It particularly shows up on the back. I'm not sure anyone else will like that defined effect, but for why I wanted this hair, it works.

This was a grand experiment from a few months back-- I wanted to see if I could put Nouk's waves on a mesh originally intended for dreadlocks. With the alpha tightened up and a lot of little holes filled in, I'm pretty seriously pleased with how it turned out! If you're using my HP Adrasteia recolors for any of your Sims' looks, Shaped Like Itself makes a really good match for it in terms of length and how the waves fall, should your wavy-headed Sims want to shove their hair back for gym clothes or swimming or something.

I've done this hair before (called Plumage), with Nouk's waves, after proof of concept for me that the Basegame Halo mesh could be saved with some of the new textures we've been seeing. I said to myself, I said, "If Nouk's waves work, why wouldn't long dreads?" And since I'm finally able to warp textures, I tried it and I am well-pleased! Some of the dreads are ridiculously fat, because Basegame stretching, but I don't think it's too noticeable from most angles.

And speaking of dreadlocks on Basegame Halo! (And my poor Dreadlock Model's skinny eyebrows. They really stand out with this one.) This was a solid challenge for the Warp tool I get to play with in Photoshop now; the dreads on the crown of her head all had to be bent to look remotely plausible, and the one going around the head had to be curved and then sharpened because so much of the detail just died. From the back-- which is usually what you're focusing on, if you're a longhaired girl just pulling your hair halfway back-- Ithink it looks pretty impressive. Check out the turnaround view.

This one doesn't even get new pics-- it's the same textures as the original Courageous, but Trapping put out an all-ages mesh so I pretty much had to redo. (Toddlers look a little silly in a lot of these huge curly hairs. Kids? Kids look adorable.) These don't replace my originals; you can have both in your game at once, but I'm not entirely sure why you'd want to.

Still, here we go again, more curly textures, and this mesh has a pretty gosh-darned reasonable poly count.
