In a continuing effort to back up my Garden of Shadows exclusives to Dreamwidth, without just duplicating the original posts where they're actually MEANT to be exclusive, here are the goodies that got heraldry of one sort or another.

I am an utter nut for heraldry, and when I got invited to participate in the first Garden of Shadows advent back in 2010, somehow my brain decided heraldic stuff was entirely logical. GoS already had a perfectly cromulent color scheme (that blue is azure in Medieval heraldry (when all blues were azure), but bleu celeste later on), and plenty of charges to choose from... but you'd be amazed how hard it is to find decent line-drawings of baby geese suitable for silly heraldic purposes.

Alfred Askew drew the gosling. Alfi rocks. Okay, let's get to the goodies.

2010's toys first, so let's start with the Sims 2 Store Castle Stuff Set. This requires Apartment Life, Mansion & Garden, Best of Business (possibly other bundle packs on the AL engine?), or the Sims 2 Store Edition.

Behold the bedroom set, in Shrapnel woods, with GoSling heraldry! The bedding ONLY works for this bed, and the tapestry is part of the bedframe subset.

And living room! Anything with upholstery got a nice GoS Blue set of cushions. I admit, three years after doing this set, that I think I screwed up on some of the metal fittings. I may get around to fixing those eventually.

Dining room! I did some plain linen upholstery as well as the GoS blue (it's on the loveseat and chair, too) because neutrals are good things to have. The runner on the dining table is linen on every recolor EXCEPT the ones marked GoS, because the runner? Is not a subset. If anyone out there ever wants to fix that, I'd be much obliged.

And here's the bed, this time with the nice neutral brown tapestry that goes with pretty much everything. It was cobbled together from an image of a bell pull I found online.

The Castle Stuff Set comes in Pooklet's Project Mayhem naturals, plus extras in Dynamite, Flash Powder, Pipe Bomb, Smoke Bomb, Mail Bomb, and Time Bomb with GoS heraldry applied (where applicable or lacking in proper subsets).

Quick policy is basically NO PAYSITES, because Pooklet says no and Alfi says no and I don't particularly like it either. I completely missed the decorative chest, and may get to that when I fix the hardware on everything else. Meshes (complete with all three of the original colors) are included. And my gosh if you slave these or add subsets where there were no subsets before, please let me know.

In 2010, I had Plans, so many PLANS, to slap that heraldic device all over every banner, pennant, tapestry, and shield I could find. These plans... did not come to fruition. 2011 was kinder, sort of. I even built a special lot to show off everything! (Okay, I plonked down my favorite self-sufficient outpost-fortress lot and slapped bleu celeste all over it.) The following actually DOESN'T represent the full on Heraldry Project, either. Someday! Promise! In the meantime...

I bring you Castle GoS.

Oh gosh okay. Now I'm going to cheat and do some re-coded pasta from my Advent post, because long.

First, the basegame Fourth Element wall banner! You get four recolors of that one-- with a Garden of Shadows motto (So Goth We Shit Geese, the whole point is that it doesn't make any sense) in English, English Simlish, Latin, and Latin Simlish.

Next, Family Fun Stuff has an awesome banner called the Fancy Fairy, and it's got tassels and everything. There are five variations of this one-- blank (pictured above behind Lord Tactius and Squire Poindexter, I name test Sims ridiculous things), and as before, English, English Simlish, Latin, and Latin Simlish.

I loved the University Donmesswitthis Bunny pennants, but putting the whole device on them got kind of awkward in the spiderweb area... so I did four recolors that alternate nicely. Requires CEP.

University also has a nifty wallhanging called the Fighting Llamas Pennant (which requires CEP)-- and because they photographed well together, this picture also shows the Seasons Banner for Four Seasons.

From Open for Business, The Big Knight by Yard Dudes is... well, he's a big knight. But he's neat and he's carrying a shield and holding a banner and it seemed like a good opportunity to play around. UK1967 over on Mod the Sims offered up a version of the Big Knight's banner as a free-standing... doodad, so they ended up in the same pic.

I actually didn't intend to recolor the Big Knight. I wanted to recolor Alexis's Mini Knight from Simvention, but since they used the same textures it just seemed like a bit of a waste to do one but not the other.

The Alansias Unofficial Tourist Bureau from Parsimonious already has heraldry on it-- in fact it's got quarterly heraldry on it, so it was just begging to be all GoS'd up. I skipped the mugs, but I did the wallhanging Shop Flag and the standing Table Flag, for your downloading pleasure.

Let me sling some credits at you for the object downloads. I have to thank Alexis, Kate at Parsimonious, and UK1967 for meshes and generalized awesomeness, and very frequently I made use of Aquilegia's linen textures and dodge/burned the hell out of them to try to get some fabric-motion going on. Any time I use this particular bit of heraldry, I have to thank Alfred Askew, who drew that kickass gosling for me last year. Because Alfred's artwork is an integral part of the device and Alfred's policy bans paysites, please keep the heraldic goodies off of such places.

Here's where we move out of Buy Mode!

Yes, now is the time for ZoeJ tunics! These come in a variety of body shapes and ages. These are more like footsoldiers' livery, seeing as how the maille doesn't come all the way down the arms. This is how His Lordship identifies his own soldiers, or possibly the servants who came with him on a hunt.

Lemme toss some credit and info out there before we get to downloading.

Textures are credit to ZoeJ, of course, although I lightened and darkened to match the rest of the set. Gosling art is Alfi's work, as ever. The original CM-EM meshes are by Tiggerypum, although I can't remember if I have or included versions with pregmorphs. Ah well. Jaccirocker built the Athletic Girl, male Androgyny and Runner meshes for me before she had to put Simming on indefinite hold for the health of her arms; they all have working fat morphs, but lack pregmorphs. I'll update this post if working pregmorphs become available. The Androgyny ladies have meshes by Cynnix included, and those DO have pregmorphs.

The Androgyny bodyshape is Aquilegia's work, the Runner is Jaccirocker's baby (and boy does he have a fine ass. He's pretty similar to the LBB), and the Athletic Girl is a Marvine shape.

Here's a nice Body Shop shot of Athletic Girl versus Androgyny. Althetic Girl looks bustier-- but she's also got heavier legs and arms and broader shoulders. The 'bust' there is actually pectoral muscles. The Androgyny mesh works equally well for the actual Androgyny shape or for Maxis-shaped ladies either disguising themselves as men or binding their breasts to pass as men. (This particular recolor implies a maille tunic under the heraldic tunic. Chainmaille was made of steel, and yes, it WILL flatten down a bust the size of a Maxis Sim's into negligibility.)

I really should've done a Body Shop pic of the men. But here you can see the Runner guy is on the basic Maxis skeleton, but with more meat on his bones, and the Androgyny male shape only differs from the hips up. The differences are subtle, but if you're outfitting a crowd of archers or footsoldiers or squires, 'subtle' can keep your Sims from looking like you just opened up a box of action figures.

Wanna help me feed my cats?

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.
