My policy, unless otherwise noted, is 'do whatever you want as long as you credit everyone whose work is involved and don't break their policies.' Usually, someone whose meshes, textures, actions, coding, or templates I've used has 'no paysites' somewhere in their policy, so it's probably a good idea to assume, well, no paysites.

Date: 2013-01-30 11:21 am (UTC)One cat breed I do know goes at least back to the Viking age is the Norwegian Forest Cat-- twenty-pound bruisers with thick, waterproof coats and huge broad feet for tramping over the snow. They're the cats that were said to have pulled Freyja's chariot, and they'd be damn good at it. Maine Coons are an analogous American breed that adapted pretty much the same way to the same conditions, just much later and on a different continent. Because evolution is awesome. (They're probably so big because Norway rats are so big-- usually an adult Norway rat is twice the size of a roof rat. A normal cat can handle a roof rat if they can catch it (they're as hard to catch as shadows unless they're hurt or make a tactical error), but a two-pound Norway rat requires either a terrier or a really big-ass cat. ... I've, uh, I've had cats all my life, many of them obvious Maine Coon mixes, and I spent a few years keeping pet rats; Norway rats from the pet store and a couple of wild-caught roof rats who are challenging bastards, but surprisingly rewarding pets if you have the patience for a critter that probably won't ever let you cuddle it. When I first caught Hello, I did extensive research on rats. And found out which vet would see him without freaking out on me.)
I'm sure I made a list somewhere of who can have which dog breeds-- hunting dogs of course go to the upper crust, the peasants get working dogs, and really, a small terrier isn't a bad pet to have in any household (man, I miss the mice, rabbits, and gophers from Unleashed. Sims 1 had cool stuff). I do know there's a cat breed somewhere that's supposed to look like a ferret. And yep, the egg-eating thing is one of the reasons we require permits for ferret ownership here in California, to protect bird nests since we do have a few endangered species. Feral cats will only kill birds already hatched. Feral ferrets, less so. ... Granted, you don't need a permit to own a python, and they'd be as bad or worse about eggs...
The Maxis armor is pretty good armor! I could wish for more helmet-shape variations, but... that's because I like hats. I already need to do helmets with feathers in heraldic colors, and thank you Sherahbim for making such pretty, pretty armor textures to be recolored.
