My policy, unless otherwise noted, is 'do whatever you want as long as you credit everyone whose work is involved and don't break their policies.' Usually, someone whose meshes, textures, actions, coding, or templates I've used has 'no paysites' somewhere in their policy, so it's probably a good idea to assume, well, no paysites.

Date: 2011-08-21 07:31 pm (UTC)I was so, so gleeful the day I found that pregnancy mod: before that point I had been speeding up the pregnancies to one day, but now in some of my 'hoods I have it whittled down to eighteen hours (very short, yes, but I went the other way to you with regards on pregnancy time vs. sim age).
I've been playing around with intelligence levels: I agree that a global mod is better, but when I have something like motivation levels, I need to do it on a sim-by-sim basis. To make it short, I define a sim's learning ability by their ambition (activeness) minus their studiousness (playfulness) -- if a sim is most happy sitting around and watching TV (low active, high playful), then they're not too likely to be exceedingly ambitious -- of course, if they have overambitious parents they're likely to be forced in to private school and university, but that doesn't guarantee they'll be successful just on their schooling. I've got a huge list of what sims of various motivations can and can't do, and it's been interesting in my trial 'hood to see how things are playing out (in a completely randomly rolled group of 20 sims I have 1 overachiever, 1 underachiever and 18 average sims).
If you're interested (not sure how applicable it would be) I also have details on various job levels in the same vein as the motivation post; various unversity degrees I'm still working on the fine details, especially how much it'd cost.
And, uh, I appologize for how enormous these comments have gotten...
