Apparently, I just want to upload right now. (Actually, I know I need to get the "Almost... finished!" Sims stuff posted before August, which is when I need to step up production for Real Work-- IE, things I can sell. Autumn is show season!)

So! With Free Time, Sims got hobbies, and a bunch of stuff that needs to not be painted in bright primary colors. Or that just needed to be updated a little. Or that I slapped a half-assed leather texture on and said "When am I ever going to really use this, anyway?" But the project is "Default Replace Everything," not "Default Replace Everything But What You Only See Once In A Blue Moon."

When a habit begins to cost money, it's called a hobby.

Let's just jump right in, shall we?

There wasn't really anything wrong with the original palette. There wasn't! But I noticed when I was getting pics of my painting defaults that you couldn't zoom in very far, or it would get pixelated all to hell. So I slapped a new wood texture on the palette, ran the paint through a few filters to remove the crunchiness (but still look like paint smears), and made the textures a fair bit bigger. Ta-da, a high-resolution palette! The brush got a bit of effort, too-- the painted yellow handle was replaced with wood, and I slapped a hair texture onto the bristles. Base Game.

Ball One! The kicky bag. Apparently the kicky bag is supposed to have lots of variations in color, but only one ever seems to show up? I replaced the red-and-white texture with some homespun-looking moss green and cream, and fiddled with the bump map. Now and then, stretching on the green texture makes the whole thing look kind of odd, but seriously-- it is REALLY hard to notice unless you're trying to zoom in and just get a picture of the kicky bag itself. Requires University.

My Servos are wooden, but they're made from a block of metal? Well, THAT had to go, so it did. This block unfortunately replaces ALL the robot crafting station blocks, so use it wisely. Requires Open for Business.

Ball Two! This is the baseball from Seasons, when you head out and play Catch. There are some slight weird twisting issues on one end, but like the kicky bag it moves so fast you'd be hard-put to spot them. Good sturdy stitched leather.

Also from Seasons, binoculars! I wanted brown leather instead of black plastic. The fittings are gold, and the lenses are clear and dark instead of red. Who ever heard of red lenses, EAxis? Really now. Suitable for most periods.

Ball Three! I totally half-assed the Free Time Football, but at least it doesn't have red paint on it anymore. (Honestly, the more I look at it, the less happy I am with it... but I have the Annoying Games Suite so my Sims can't even play football unless I tell them to.)

I AM, however, pretty darned happy with the Free Time platter. I should put it in Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, too, but you have to have a certain level of cuisine enthusiasm to even pull it from the fridge. I didn't notice until recently that it had its own texture rather than pulling from the plates, so here you go-- a chip-carved wood platter to serve your dip, your cheese, or your appetizers!

Ball Four! Yeah, all I did to the basketball was add stitches and de-plasticize the textures. I'm not happy with it, but I'm not unhappy with it... I couldn't figure out the mapping for the life of me. Spheres are hard! Requires Free Time.

Okay, this sphere wasn't too hard. It's the Free Time Science Enthusiasm Totally Not a Rubik's Cube Sphere Thingy! Bright paint and my usual 'a wizard did it' wood looks a lot more Medieval than black plastic. You are seeing this on Ja's Alice Cardboard Nursery Logic Toy, because it was next to impossible to get even my maxed-out science Sims to play with this when I wanted a picture. Dance, whistle, crack their knuckles, sure...

Ball... uh, five? The Free Time Soccer Ball doesn't suffer too badly from insanity mapping, but you only recolor one black and one white patch, so I couldn't figure out how to do too much with it. Leather texture, and I dulled the super-shiny finish a bit. That sucker was practically mirrored.

So! Boilerplate!

Item the First: NO BLOODY PAYSITES. For defaults? Just no. Man it chaps my biscuits when people go around demanding money for simple texture defaults-- also extracted crap. Hate that. So much. Flames on the sides of my face level of hate.

Item the Second: In the event that you do not want to ask payment for these goodies, please do feel free to use my defaults as templates for your own! Especially if you have more of a passion for sports equipment than I do. If you want a full template, with all the mesh bits and bobs included, let me know and I'll get that for you.

Item the Third: You know when I put the words DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS in all caps, I'm going to reference Highlander. You can only have one default replacement of any given object in your game at a time; if you end up with double defaults, last mod loaded wins. My files all start with [, so it won't be one of mine unless you stick them in a folder labeled ZZZ HAT'S STUFF or something. (I warn for this every time, even though I've never seen replacements for half the stuff I swap out.)

Item the Fourth: A round of applause should go to Quaxi for SimPE, Lyn for making sure I had a working copy of Photoshop, Ja for the sweet sweet relief of having that toy handy to check the Science Ball texture, and yeah, I'm going to thank my donors again, because I've posted 54 pictures in the last 24 hours completely without fear of bandwidth. Y'all rock. Folk who comment or post pictures of my stuff in their game also give me the warm fuzzies. I love you.

Item the Fifth, the Miscellany: Most of these require Free Time; all but the easel and paintbrush require one expansion or the other. The files themselves are small, usually just the texture, lifo, and sometimes TXMT, but the zip file is larger because there are photos included. Everything has been compressorized, because I tend to use Build DXT5 wherever humanly possible.

And now that you've read boring words...

Hey, want to know what else you can download? How about my recolor of Ja's Alice Logic Toy (with Ja's mesh included), so your toys can match?

Wanna help me feed my cats?

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. Donors get two things at the moment: a) a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery, full of pictures of the cats you'll be feeding, updated sporadically when the cats do something photogenic and I'm fast enough on the trigger to catch it, and b) a link to the list of content I have done-but-not-screencapped, nearly done, partly done, or in the planning stages, and the option to suggest what ought to be in the next batch of things I focus on.
