Buy Mode Blitz: Mog Hughson's Novel Writing Manuscript

Mog Hughson's Novel-Writing Manuscript allows Sims to write a novel longhand-- you know, the old-fashioned way, before typewriters and computers and crystal ball or 'pile of books' computers. Midgethetree's Practice Writing update allows Sims to build creativity by writing in Mog's manuscript without actually writing anything... salable? Cohesive?

But anyway!

I recolored it for Buy Mode Blitz. Because why wouldn't I? This does get a little bit complicated, because it's one part 'recolor set' and one part 'texture default.'

You get ten recolors with various leather covers (some authentic, some plausible), parchment paper, and Simlish writing... AND as far as the original mesh goes, you have the option of getting the original (in which case you will never see parchment paper or Simlish writing in-game because it'll go to regular spiral-bound notebooks as soon as they're opened up) or a historically plausible texture-defaulted version where all the internal textures are replaced-- the Adult and Child writing is replaced with parchment and Simlish, the red notebook cover is replaced with blank parchment, and the manila envelope (when you mail your handwritten novel off to be published) is replaced with a nice cloth-wrapped parcel with a red seal.

So using the Medieval version, your base color is a blank parchment sheaf, you flip over a cover sheet and start writing, and applying a recolor is basically letting your scholarly Sim choose a nice leather folio to keep their work in.

Using the regular version, your Sims are shoving their dollar-store notebooks into fancy leather folios, but listen, writing is a persnickety pastime, your Sims should embrace their aesthetic and live their best lives. (I, sadly, do not have pics of this.)

The regular is manuscript-Mog-20100625.package, while the parchment default is manuscript-Mog-20100625x-MedievalDefault.package. Choose wisely, because whichever one loads last wins.

I have also included Medieval defaults for Midgethetree's 02-02-2019 update to the object, which is where 'Practice Writing' comes in. Don't have a story to tell, just want to scribble random scenes and bits of bits? Not interested in publishing? Practice Writing! It builds Creativity! Remember, it's the "x-MedievalDefault" version if you want parchment, otherwise it's plain wide-ruled paper under that fancy cover.

There is one flaw, which I did not spot until I was taking pics, and it is this:

That sure is a nice mechanical pencil you got there. Sure would be a shame if someone had jabbed it through your hand, holy crap.

The cover textures are suitable for use as homework or college assignment defaults! Feel free to play around with them.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. I don't do pay content and I can't seem to get requests done in a timely fashion, so donors get a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery (you help feed my cats, you get to see lots and lots of pictures of my cats) and my to-do list Google doc, in case there's anything on there that makes a donor go 'oooh, when are you working on that one?'

I Love You!

This is wonderful, Hat. I wonder if Sunni's quill pen DR (and the accompanying pen fix) would work with this, or did Mog make a brand new pen? I haven't tested yet. http://www.medievalsims.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=75&t=1467 --rugrat0ne
