Buy Mode Blitz: The Goal of Paul Soccer Net (FT)
In keeping with the apparent theme of 'Wood For Sims Textures,' or possibly 'items already on the lot in the Creature Feature household,' I bring you Free Time's The Goal of Paul Soccer net, using textures burgled from the Wood For Sims Fisherman set-- one of the very first objects I beat up for Buy Mode Blitz!

The goal of Buy Mode Blitz, for me, is to ensure that the things I use a lot have more recolors than I'm ever likely to use, and that the things I want to use but seldom do actually get some recolors that'll make them more or less useful in my game.
The Goal of Paul falls into that second category.
It's not that soccer is a period activity, exactly-- not that it isn't, either, it was... much less regulated than any modern game. Much, much less.
But 'kicking a ball around' is as old as balls, really, and when I realized both the Goal of Paul and the Wood For Sims Fisherman fishing net were an alpha texture...
I honestly sort of figured, "Why not?" Hey, it builds Body skill and gives Sports enthusiasm, I don't have a lot of remotely period things that give Sports enthusiasm!

I didn't go and do anything really fancy, like a full Project Mayhem set, or "dying" the net in 82 colors-- just did the frame in wood (still from WFS) and the net in... net. So while it absolutely still looks like a modern soccer net, and from a Medieval perspective something expensive-- look at those fat timbers! Clearly somebody wealthy paid to have this put up on the village green to keep the youths out of mischief-- it at least looks... more passable, more plausible.
Less powder-coated-steel-and-nylon.

The net textures are very slightly blurry due to the size, but from any reasonable distance they're fine, and you can still tell they're meant to be fine knotted rope.

The poles are... definitely not as crisp as I'd like, but considering Maxis intended this for absolute floodfill textures, they also didn't turn out half as badly as I'd worried they would.

Included is exactly one recolor file, of FreeTime's Goal of Paul soccer net-- there are two subsets (or are with CEP installed), but I didn't separate them into two package files because... I did not. (I nearly just default-replaced, but it takes two seconds to apply a recolor and maybe you need powder-coated steel in the suburban park and wood-hand-knotted-rope at the campground, I don't know what's in your game.) ... This... is a very small download, from me.

In case you feel like dropping me a buck or two, should you have a buck or two to spare. I don't do pay content and I can't seem to get requests done in a timely fashion, so donors get a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery (you help feed my cats, you get to see lots and lots of pictures of my cats) and my to-do list Google doc, in case there's anything on there that makes a donor go 'oooh, when are you working on that one?'
