Buy Mode Blitz: Wood for Sims Big Barn Curtains

Wood For Sims' Barn Living Room (Nostalgia Living Room?) curtains have been helpfully texture-referenced by HugeLunatic and come in 82 Pooklet Project Mayhem natural, CuriousB Any Color You Like, Aelia Autumn over a rather felted-looking wool twill (originally from TS3 but I shrank it down too far for scale... and still liked it), 8 selected Aelia Eco fabric colors over Magpie's linen texture, and 60 wood textures-- 20 Pooklet Project Mayhem naturals over my now-favorite blend of Piggi Wood 03 and SDA's castle kitchen in Plain Wood, Kativip's LS City Bench/Chair carving, and Kativip's LS SD02 bench/chair carving.

Please note that the curtain box recolors are labeled WOOD, so the wool curtain recolors are labeled TWILL, to reduce confusion.

There are seven one-tile curtain pieces (shown here in the WFS original textures) you can use for all your curtaining needs, mixing and matching to cover doorways, big windows, confessionals, one-story stages, whatever, with whatever combination of pulled-back curtains you need. The fabric and wood are separate subsets, unlinked in case you want Flash Powder curtains but not Flash Powder wood. The files are as follows (bearing in mind I think I was thinking 'stage left' and 'stage right,' which are reversed):

1. floorcurtainlong1a_MASTER
Long straight curtain, floor to ceiling, no tiebacks

2. floorcurtaindoor1a
Left side tie-back, pulled tightly back (leaving a gap at the top)

3. floorcurtaindoor2a
RIGHT side tie-back, pulled tightly back (leaving a gap at the top)

4. floorcurtaindouble1a
Both sides tied back as in the door curtains... but on one tile (suitable for single windows)

5. floorcurtainrnd1a
Left side tie-back, loosely tied (no gap at top)

6. floorcurtainrnd2a
RIGHT side tie-back, loosely tied (no gap at top)

7. floorcurtainvolant1a
Just the valance and box

Wood textures-- I think the LS City carving tiles the best, but both were stolen from the edges of chairs.

Is this set of curtains historically accurate?

... Honestly, more like almost.

Now, long curtains LIKE this were certainly known in the Middle Ages, hung across doorways or behind the head table at a feast or in front of a niche full of books or... whatever, but usually they were either also part of a canopy (great hall, bed curtains) or draped over an upstairs railing, or hung from a pole by ties or tabs (so as not to waste fabric by just making a casing, I guess), because making a box like this wasn't the wisest use of wood-- you had to mill and sand these things flat before the carving and the joining, and that's... a lot of wastage when coppiced trees basically GROW as nice straight round poles and only need seasoning and sanding. Plus the little ruffle thing at the top is ALSO a waste of fabric.

On the other hand, in-game, the box makes for a fantastic way to join the curtains together across multiple tiles and it disappears into the ceiling if you're playing with ceilings, and I very carefully did not strongly shade the top ruffle or the area under it, so it's pretty subtle.

So these are not exactly accurate to the Middle Ages... but they're inaccurate in a way I like and am willing to work with in MY game. Call it 'historically adequate,' because they give that feel of 'brightly dyed cloth as backdrop'-- or you can use them to protect your bookshelf from sun and smoke from the hearth and whatever terrible thing the cat might do-- but the mesh is faking it.

I don't do pay content and I can't seem to get requests done in a timely fashion, so donors get a link to the Super Secret Cat Gallery (you help feed my cats, you get to see lots and lots of pictures of my cats) and my to-do list Google doc, in case there's anything on there that makes a donor go 'oooh, when are you working on that one?'
