Alright I made three adult sims and one teen, had them all try getting different jobs. each was wearing a different color of the apron, each one crashed the game the same way. the other top/bottom item i have (the dress with a bottom apron?) does not appear to cause this problem; the daughter of my original crashing sim was wearing it and managed to get a job without anything exploding).
