Le Chausseur, la troisième partie
It says 'part three' (okay it says it in French), but this is actually something of a new beginning as chausses, hosen, and stockings go. For I have not simply done twenty colors, no!
I HAVE DONE ALL THE COLORS! At least, if you count eighty-two as 'all.'
Okay, here's how this works. this post contains a lot of basic white underwear, including short smocks for CF, TF, and YA-EF. And that's awesome, I am well-pleased with my scanties, but something was missing.
See, men wore full-length hosen in the Middle Ages (well, sometimes they didn't in winter), but women's hose were only knee-high, kept up with a garter. (Men often wore garters, too, but once hosen got fitted enough to stay up by themselves, the garter evolved into more of a decoration for a shapely calf, for men.) The garter could be as simple as a strip of leftover fabric, or it could be a dagged tablet-woven silk ribbon or a tiny belt with a buckle.
I didn't get that fancy; all my garters are simple contrast fabric, the textures nicked from an apron by Iamliz13 over on MTS.
Anyway, on a short smock, the garters would show, and since there's never enough underwear for Medieval Sims (of either gender), well, I went a bit nuts.
I took my eight basic linen colors, all 82 actions in my default color palette, paired each color with a linen shade based mostly on the probable expense of the dye to make that color (with a little bit of 'have I already done a similar combo?' thrown in, but I forgot to double check a couple of times), and I made a pretty darned useful garment for kids, teens, and adult folk.
Meshes are a little special; the CF mesh is Kalynn's Simple Shift, but the TF and YA-EF meshes are the basegame TFNiteShirt and AFNightGown... with blockfeet and pregmorphs as stand-alone meshes, by Cynnix. So as with the mens' chausses, these are totally sexyfeet-safe!
Sadly, because all three meshes are mapped slightly differently-- including stockings on kids-- these can't be texture-referenced. They're available as Underwear and Swimwear, because you wouldn't want to wear tightly-tied garters to bed. (Also, if you download the rest of my scanties, you'll find that you can tell the underwear, swimwear, and sleepwear categories apart when using Pescado's clothing tool, because while everything is sorted into underwear, sleepwear has nothing binding (no bras, no stockings) and swimwear has nothing that could tangle (no long skirts).) Nothing is townie-enabled, but there's a great tutorial by Quintcia right here. Adult meshes are enabled for elders, both to save space and because my elders are a little less shapeless-looking by default.

But wait, there's more!
One of the things that seems to have gotten going lately is Medieval separates for ladies-- bottom-only gowns and top-only shifts. Cynnix put out a load of awesome meshes for such separates, even. Now, there will be a lot more of these in another post, but for now?
I took Cynnix's long-sleeve top, paired it with my textures from the loose-sleeve strapdress, and-- because when I make bottom-only gowns, I leave the sock area of the alpha blank-- added hosen in eight browns and eight reds, sorted by relative richness of dye (and which ones looked like brownish wool overdyed with red).
No good in-game photos, alas, but they ARE texture-referenced! The Adult files are the masters. Oh, and these come down to the natural waist and NO FURTHER, which means anything cut past the navel (including my wide-laced kirtles) will look pretty funky with these.

Boilerplate goes here: I have to thank Cynnix and Kalynn for meshes, Aquilegia for her linen textures, Sherahbim for a lot of textures I tear apart (in this case, mostly the Gwynimean gown), Iamliz13 for the garter texture, CuriousB, Pooklet, and Aelia for their color actions, Quaxi for SimPE, DJ for the COmpressorizer, and Lyn for making sure I had a working copy of Photoshop.
Since these use Pooklet's actions and Pooklet says no paysites... no paysites.
I really wanted all of this to go in the GoS July Challenge, but there was an alpha issue on EVERYTHING and I lost my mojo when it came to fixing it.
