I'll grant you that there is... let's say, art that appeals more to a modern aesthetic right as the Late Middle Ages are inching into the Renaissance. I won't swear to this, but I think the shift had something to do with the development of oil paint instead of egg tempera, and the ability to really paint in thin, luminous layers of color. (Oil is a forgiving mistress.)

... And you've reminded me, there's a tumblr post I need to find about armor... *digs a bit* Ahah-- this one. Can I just tell you what a pet peeve of mine that is? But yes, weapons have been constantly evolving since the day Og and Thag discovered that some clubs clubbed better than others. I spent a couple of days watching Terry Jones's Medieval Lives on YouTube (constantly reloading each episode as it stalled out because what did you do, BBC, everybody was having problems), and one of the things I hadn't realized was that part of the reason the British longbowmen kicked the French army's ass was the shift from the barbed hunting arrow to a more bullet-shaped arrow. He held up an example of each, and suddenly the old 'loosely connected series of holes' description made a LOT of sense.

I think I have a list somewhere of which classes are allowed to own what kind of dog-- and I removed all the non-period dog breeds (my game is pre-Mexico and thus pre-Mexican-state-of-Chihuahua and thus, no Chihuahuas in my game)-- but as I was looking through the cat breeds (removing one that was developed in the seventies and the Maine Coon because it just didn't look like a Maine Coon-- or I would've kept it, cos Maine Coons look like Norwegian Forest Cats), I said to myself, I said, "Screw this, a moggie's a moggie." Nobody can help what kind of cat decides to claim them.

Believe me, I know. *locked in home office, hiding from Harley, who has decided 'sitting at the computer, typing' means 'there's just enough lap for me to squeeze into and prevent further typing now pet my head, peon'*
